Genshin Impact version 5.7 offers two amazing Main DPS options on the gacha banner, Skirk and Mavuika. While the former is a 5-star Cryo character available during the ongoing first half, the latter is a 5-star Pyro unit that releases in the second half of the patch on July 8, 2025. Naturally, F2P players and those with limited Primogems may wonder which character to go for between the two, and to answer that query, we compare Skirk vs Mavuika to determine who is the best Main DPS for you in Genshin Impact.
How Good is Skirk in Genshin Impact?
Skirk is arguably the best Cryo Main DPS in Genshin Impact and wields a Sword in combat. Unlike traditional characters, she does not rely on Energy, but uses something called Serpent’s Subtlety to use her abilities. After casting her Elemental Skill, she uses her Normal Attacks to deal consistently high damage, while also having the option to use her Elemental Burst to nuke enemies. All of this, along with her high damage ceiling, makes Skirk a powerful damage dealer. You can use her to effectively clear even the toughest challenges in the game.
However, it is important to note that Skirk’s team compositions can be quite restrictive. She functions best when paired with only Hydro and Cryo teammates; otherwise, her damage falls off considerably. This can be a deal breaker for you if you do not have strong Sub-DPS units from the aforementioned elements, like Shenhe, Escoffier, and Furina. While you can play her with other 4-star replacements in an F2P team, the damage numbers would not be nearly as high.
How Good is Mavuika in Genshin Impact?
Mavuika is the Pyro Archon in the title, and as such, it isn’t surprising that she is one of the most powerful characters in the RPG and at the top of Genshin’s tier list. Not only is she a strong Main DPS who wields a Claymore, but she is also a capable Sub-DPS, good at dealing off-field Pyro DMG. You can use her in either role by pressing or holding her Elemental Skill. Furthermore, her Elemental Burst can also nuke enemies and doesn’t require Energy, similar to Skirk.
Unlike Skirk, however, Mavuika doesn’t struggle with any team-building restrictions. You can use her in any team composition to fill the role of a Pyro DPS or Sub-DPS, and she will perform well. This makes her a highly lucrative character to have.
Skirk vs Mavuika: Final Verdict
If you are stuck deciding between Skirk and Mavuika, it is recommended that you pick Mavuika. While both of them are powerful damage dealers capable of clearing all the in-game challenges, the Pyro Archon offers more value. She can fulfill two different roles in your account without subjecting you to team-building restrictions. She will function well with your existing characters and will also aid in exploration.
However, in case you already have a reliable Pyro damage dealer like Arlecchino or Hu Tao and are hoping to diversify your in-game roster, Skirk can be an amazing choice. She is likely to remain a powerful DPS from the Cryo element for the foreseeable future.
