Samsung’s One UI 7 update despite being a major improvement has been receiving a lot of flak due to its highly delayed rollout. This is because none of the older Samsung phones including the flagship S24 series have received it and only a handful of recently released phones are running One UI 7. However, there’s a flip side to it as Samsung has already started working on One UI 8 and is even skipping the One UI 7.1 update to fast-track it. According to a new report, the South Korean giant has begun testing the One UI 8 update internally.
Samsung Begins Testing One UI 8 Internally for S25 Series
According to tipster Tarun Vats, Samsung has begun the internal testing of the One UI 8 update for the S25 series. The internal build has been spotted on the company’s official servers. For reference, these are the build numbers: S938BXXU1BYC1/S938BOXM1BYC1/S938BXXU1BYC1.
Furthermore, Vats claims that Samsung has started the testing for One UI 8 two months before than its usual timeline. For those unaware, Google plans to release Android 16 update in June and Samsung does not want to be seen playing catch up.

With the delayed launch of One UI 7, Samsung’s reputation for providing timely updates has taken a hit. However, Samsung has recently revealed that One UI 7 will be available in April with beta builds available for Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
However, reports suggest that the company’s flagship S24 series and Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will get the stable update in April while older flagships and mid-rangers could receive it much later. This means that even if Samsung manages to release One UI 8 on time, it will be first available on the S25 series before making its way to other devices.
But reports also suggest that One UI 8 may arrive sooner than expected so there’s still some light at the end of the tunnel. The update is expected to bring support for lock screen widgets for third-party apps as Google has confirmed support for the feature in Android 16.
