The Pillars in Fire Force aren’t just powerful; they are at the center of the story. Each pillar is chosen by the Adolla realm and gifted with an Adolla Burst, a supernatural power that pushes them far beyond what normal pyrokinetics can achieve. But it’s not just their abilities that make them special. It’s the raw emotion they embody. And so, here is our list of the strongest pillars in Fire Force, ranked.

Whether it’s Shinra’s burning rage, Sho’s cold apathy, or Inca’s love for chaos, each Pillar taps into a core feeling that fuels their terrifying strength. These emotions do more than define their personalities. Let us take a closer look at each pillar and see who sits at the pinnacle of it all.

8. Iris (Pillar of Despair)

- Pillar Number: Eighth Pillar
- Emotion: Despair
- Adolla Burst Power: Defensive aura strong enough to block large-scale attacks
Iris becomes the Eighth Pillar after Shinra defeats Leonard Burns. Her Adolla Burst allows her to cast protective auras strong enough to negate attacks like Dragon’s ignition ability. She’s the only one shown to use Grace defensively on such a large scale.
While Iris lacks offensive power, her role is vital. She represents the hope and despair tied to faith in the Holy Sol Temple. As a nun with hidden ties to Amaterasu, she’s more of a spiritual counterbalance than a fighter—but in the right moment, she can shield an entire squad from destruction.
7. Sumire (Pillar Of Disgust)

- Pillar Number: Seventh Pillar
- Emotion: Disgust
- Adolla Burst Power: Converts shivering into kinetic energy to create vibrations and earthquakes
Sumire, the Seventh Pillar, is a genius who has secretly operated from the shadows for over two centuries. After losing faith in humanity’s obsession with fads and false icons, she joined the Evangelist, believing the world needed to be burned clean. Her Adolla Burst lets her amplify the heat generated by shivering into powerful vibrations that can cause devastating earthquakes.
While not a fighter, Sumire is the White-Clad’s lead researcher, responsible for creating doppelgängers and manipulating pyrokinetic evolution. Her disgust for humanity is so deep that she views global destruction as purification. Cold, calculating, and manipulative, Sumire is one of the most crucial pillars who has affected some of the biggest events in Fire Force.
6. Nataku Son (Pillar Of Fear)

- Pillar Number: Sixth Pillar
- Emotion: Fear
- Adolla Burst Power: Radiation-based flames, explosive ring cannons, nuclear-level heat
The Sixth Pillar, Nataku Son, gained his Adolla Burst after being experimented on by Haijima Industries. Like every other Pillar, Nataku’s powers stem from a core emotion, and in his case, fear. This fear fuels his ability to generate rings of nuclear fire that detonate in massive explosions, with his flames resembling radiation. The scale of his attacks is immense, but they’re often involuntary, triggered when he’s cornered or overwhelmed with panic.
While his fear makes him unstable, it also unlocks his true potential. Nataku is just a kid burdened with overwhelming power he never asked for. Deep down, he simply wants to be allowed to accept his limits and be weaker. Constantly forced to live up to impossible expectations, Nataku becomes one of the most tragic characters in the series.
5. Inca Kasugatani (Pillar of Destruction)

- Pillar Number: Fifth Pillar
- Emotion: Destruction
- Adolla Burst Power: Senses heat pathways and detonates them at will
Inca, the Fifth Pillar, likes to live life on the edge with only the thrill of death giving her any sense of freedom. She can detect and control the paths of heat, predict where fire will move, walk through flames unscathed, and trigger explosions. She can remotely change the course of any battle.
Unlike others, Inca chooses chaos. She joins the White-Clad willingly, craving thrill and danger. Her morality is twisted, and she sees destruction as freedom. That mindset, paired with her volatile powers, makes her one of the most dangerous and unstable Pillars in the Fire Force anime.
4. Shō Kusakabe (Pillar of Apathy)

- Pillar Number: Third Pillar
- Emotion: Apathy
- Adolla Burst Power: Severed Universe – slows time by reducing thermal expansion
The Third Pillar in Fire Force and Shinra’s younger brother, Shō, has one of the most broken abilities in the series. His Severed Universe technique lets him slow down the universe’s expansion by freezing his body’s heat. This effectively stops time around him, allowing him to move while everyone else is frozen. It’s perfect for assassination and close-range attacks.
Though abducted by the Evangelist as a baby, Shō eventually regains his memories and fights alongside his brother. Even after losing his Severed Universe due to resistance, he remains a high-tier combatant. His calm focus and deadly precision keep him firmly near the top of the list.
3. Haumea (Pillar Of Passivity)

- Pillar Number: Second Pillar
- Emotion: Passivity
- Adolla Burst Power: Electric brainwave control, neural hijacking, mind reading
The Second Pillar and the Evangelist’s right hand, Haumea, is what happens when you grow up hearing humanity’s worst thoughts 24/7. Her Adolla Burst manifests through electricity, not flames, allowing her to hijack nervous systems, shut down tech, read minds, and mess with brain chemistry.
Haumea has the power to control the battlefield like a conductor, manipulating people like puppets, predicting movements with Inca’s precognition, and warping brains with a smile. She can glide using electromagnetic fields, summon literal Demon Infernals, and even unleash beams of madness using Amaterasu’s power. In the endgame, with powers absorbed from other Pillars, Haumea becomes nearly untouchable, even when time itself is frozen.
2. Amaterasu (Pillar of Madness)

- Pillar Number: First Pillar
- Emotion: Madness
- Adolla Burst Power: Unclear, but powerful enough to fuel the entire Tokyo Empire
When you’re on no one’s side and your motives are unknowable, your unpredictability alone becomes terrifying. Amaterasu is a sentient flame born from the Adolla realm, sealed inside Tokyo’s power generator like a divine sacrifice. She has burned for centuries, not to warm the people, but to keep a lie alive. With no body to fight or hands to throw punches, she exists as pure malice, always watching, waiting, and whispering through the Adolla Link.
Her madness spreads like a plague. She once hijacked Shinra’s mind, twisting his grief and rage into something monstrous. Haumea later absorbed her so-called Light of Madness and used it to unleash reality-shattering blasts. Amaterasu is not a saint or a saviour. She is the first spark of destruction, and she wants to watch the world burn.
1. Shinra Kusakabe (Pillar of Rage)

- Pillar Number: Fourth Pillar
- Emotion: Rage
- Adolla Burst Power: Fire propulsion from his feet, light-speed travel, time reversal, reality manipulation (Shinrabanshō-man)
The Fourth Pillar and Fire Force’s main protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe, starts off as a boy with a devilish grin and a strong will to become a hero. But once he connects to the Adolla realm, his power becomes absurd. Using Adolla Grace, Shinra can move so fast that he breaks into particles and travels back in time. He literally outruns death by burning hotter and moving faster than physics should allow.
After Shinra resonates his soul with his mother and brother, he evolves into Shinrabanshō-man, a divine being who can bend reality with his imagination. From reshaping time to creating life, he uses pure emotion to overwhelm even the Evangelist. By the end of the story, he’s not just a saviour, he becomes a god who remakes the world of Soul Eater in his image.
