  • The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has entered the production phase and will launch early.
  • Contrary to previous reports, the phone will debut alongside the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7.
  • The Z Flip 7 FE will offer similar specifications to last year’s Z Flip 6.

Samsung is working to release its next generation of foldable devices, the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. It will also unveil a cheaper variant called the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. While previous reports hinted that the Flip 7 FE would face delays, it is now launching at the same time as the rest of the series. Here is everything you need to know about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE launch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE to launch at the same time as Z Flip 7

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE to Launch Alongside Flip 7

According to a tweet by Max Jambor, production has started for the demo units of the Z Flip 7 FE. Since these demo units are important for retailers, we can expect the phone to launch soon.

Codenamed B7R, the demo unit for the upcoming flip phone weighs 187 grams without the box or charger. Interestingly, this is the same weight as the Z Flip 6, hinting that the Z Flip 7 FE could be a rebrand of last year’s flip.

The tipster also revealed that Z Flip 7 FE entered production on April 30 alongside the Z Flip 7 (codename B7) and Fold 7 (codename Q7).

It means we can now expect the Z Flip 7 FE to debut alongside the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Previous reports claimed that the company could delay the launch of the Z Flip 7 FE.

This would mean Samsung adopting the same strategy as the S series. Launching the flagship products at the beginning of the year, followed by a cheaper FE model at the end of the year.

With the next Galaxy Unpacked event set to take place in June-July, Samsung wants to roll out all its foldables in one go. They will be the first phones to launch with One UI 8 and will launch alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 series.

Z Flip 7 FE Expected Specifications

This is the first time that Samsung is introducing a cheaper foldable in the FE series. The Z Flip 7 FE shares many similarities with the Z Flip 6.

According to leaks and rumors, it will have a 3.4-inch cover display with the same design as the Z Flip 6. After unfolding the phone, you will be greeted by a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED 2x panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.

However, unlike Flip 6, it will use Samsung’s Exynos 2400 or 2400e processor. Some reports also claim it will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the same processor as Flip 6, so there isn’t much clarity.

But we can expect 12GB of RAM and 7 years of OS updates, just like the rest of the lineup. It will be among the first Samsung phones to launch with One UI 8 out of the box. For photography, it will have a 12MP primary and a 12MP ultrawide.

For selfies, you can expect a 10MP snapper on the inner screen. All three cameras are capable of shooting 4K at 60FPS.

The Z Flip 7 FE will pack a 4,000mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging support. There will also be an IP48 rating, apart from stereo speakers and a USB-C 3.2 port.

Pricing And Availability

Based on the leaked pricing, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will launch for less than EUR 1000 or $1130. We can expect the Flip 7 FE to cost $799 compared to the $999 price of the Flip 7.

This is assuming that Samsung does not hike the price of the Flip 7 and sticks to the same price as last year. Otherwise, the Flip 7 FE would lose its appeal, and people would simply buy last year’s Flip 6 since it shares the same specifications.

Hopefully, Samsung will price the Flip 7 FE better than the S25 Edge, or it ends up putting the Flip 7 FE in conflict with the Z Flip 6. It is expected to compete with the Motorola Razr 60, which has a better design, bigger screen and larger battery.

That being said, the South Korean giant is also working on its first tri-fold phone that will launch at the end of this year. The Galaxy G Fold will be the most expensive Samsung phone, costing $3000-$3500. It will go on sale in South Korea and China in limited quantities.
