The class system was introduced on January 31, 2026, and it completely changed the game. Now, Survive Zombie Arena features nine classes, each built around a different playstyle and price. Choosing the right one early can completely change how your runs play out in each session. Here is the complete guide for Survive Zombie Arena Classes. Check them out!
How Classes Work in Survive Zombie Arena
Before the January update, every player in Survive Zombie Arena used the same loadout. Now, your class choice matters just as much as your skill in the arena.

You can pick a class in the lobby before every run. There is Harrison NPC there that you can interact with. That class locks in your gear and your role for the whole arena. You can't switch once the game starts. However, every class you unlock stays unlocked forever. So every Credit you earn in a run goes toward building your permanent collection.

Class Breakdowns
1. Survivor
Survivor is your starting class, and it comes with nothing special. You get these tools and weapons:

- Barricade - Blocks zombie pathing and absorbs damage.
- Auto Turret - Automatically targets and shoots nearby zombies.
- Landmine - Detonates when zombies step on it.
All of the above are pretty standard stuff. There are no damage bonuses and no special mechanics. Use it for your first run or two while you figure out how the game works. Once you have Credits saved up, move on.
2. Medic
Medic is the first real class most players unlock, and it is a solid pick for team play. You get:

- Stim Shot - Boosts attack speed and movement speed by 50% at the cost of some health.
- Mending Tower - A healing tower continuously heals all nearby structures within its radius.
- Healing Station - Continuously heals players standing within its radius.
In solo runs, Medic feels a bit limited since most of the healing value comes from keeping your squad going. But in co-op, at least one person needs to be the Medic to heal others, and this class does that job well.
3. Marksman
Marksman is probably the best value class in the entire game. For 15,000 Credits, you get:

- Frag Grenade - Explodes on impact, dealing burst area damage to all nearby zombies.
- Deadeye - Boosts gun damage and makes shots pierce through multiple zombies for a short duration.
- Sonar Ping - Sends a sonar pulse outward, marking nearby zombies. Marked zombies take bonus damage from all gunshots.
If you have good aim and know how to position yourself, the Marksman can carry a whole team. The weakness is that you are a bit squishy. If you get caught in a crowd at close range, you are in trouble.
4. Engineer
Engineer is a stationary defense class. With this class, you get:

- Flame Turret - Sprays fire in a cone, burning multiple zombies at once.
- Auto Turret - Automatically targets and shoots nearby zombies.
- Steel Barricade - Much higher health than normal barricades.
An Engineer works well when your team is holding a chokepoint. The problem is adaptability. If you need to move or reposition, this class struggles a bit. Tactician is basically the upgraded version of Engineer, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to invest here or save up.
5. Ninja
Ninja is the most unique class in the roster, but also one of the hardest to get value from. Your main tools are:

- Cloak - Turns you completely invisible and gives you a speed boost. Zombies ignore you entirely for the duration.
- Blade Fury - Spin with blades, dealing periodic damage to all nearby zombies.
- Shuriken - Throws shurikens at nearby zombies, dealing damage on arrival.
The problem is that Ninja's close-range gameplay gets really dangerous in the later waves when elite zombies start stacking up. Ninja is useful for early wave survival, but after that, you have to be very skilled to play this class.
6. Demolitionist
Demolitionist is your crowd control specialist. With this class, you will get:

- Stim Shot - Boosts attack speed and movement speed by 50% at the cost of some health.
- Shockwave Bomb - Releases a shockwave that knocks back and stuns zombies.
- Molotov - Explodes on impact, dealing area damage and leaving fire that burns zombies over time.
This class is very useful when zombies are tightly packed. If a wave is pushing hard on your position, a well-placed Shockwave Bomb followed by a Molotov can stall the entire group of zombies and give your teammates time to recover.
7. Tactician
Tactician is one of the best defensive classes in the game.

With 75,000 Credits, you will also get:
- Vanguard Turret - Targets the strongest zombie with high single-target damage.
- Spikes - Periodically extends spikes from the ground to damage nearby zombies.
- Steel Barricade - Much higher health than normal barricades.
On the Rooftop Map, especially, Tactician is a go-to anchor class for any team. However, you need to think about the setup time. If your team has to keep moving, you lose a lot of your value since your structres do not come with you.
8. Bastion
Bastion is the ultimate defensive class in Survive Zombie Arena. The entire kit is built around locking down a position and making it nearly impossible for zombies to push through.

Here are the tools you get from paying 200,000 Credits:
- Bunker - Players inside become invincible, regenerate HP, and gain a damage boost.
- Laser Turret - Auto-tracks zombies, fires red lasers fast, and at range.
- Drone - Auto-shoots zombies and soaks up damage for you. Equip more for a deadly swarm.
The Bunker tool is not just for you, your whole squad benefits from it. And unlike Tactician, which requires careful turret placement, Bastion's drone spam adds a layer of damage that keeps working even when the situation gets messy.
9. Necromancer
Necromancer is the only other Legendary class in Survive Zombie Arena and the most mechanically demanding one.

Your kit revolves around three tools:
- Soul Harvester - Harvests souls from nearby zombie corpses. Souls are used to raise undead.
- Raise Undead - Consumes souls to summon zombie minions that fight for you.
- Death Nova - Detonates all your zombie minions, dealing massive area damage per minion.
The loop is: kill zombies, harvest their souls, raise them as minions, then detonate them at the right moment. When it works, Necromancer can carry late-wave pushes better than almost any other class.
Best Classes Progress in Survive Zombie Arena
Do not chase Necromancer right away. The Credit wall is steep and there are faster ways to build power. Here is the unlock order that makes the most sense:
- Medic (10,000) - Gives you a usable kit fast, especially in co-op.
- Marksman (15,000) - Best return on investment in the game. A-tier damage at a low price.
- Engineer (20,000) - Optional, skip if you are saving for Tactician.
- Tactician (75,000) - Your first major upgrade. Best defensive class in the roster.
- Necromancer (200,000) - Only go for this once you have your fundamentals down.
