Gear is one of the most important systems in Survive Zombie Arena. Knowing which gear to use and how to upgrade them can be the difference between surviving and getting wiped out early. This guide covers everything you need to know about gears in Survive Zombie Arena.
How Gears Work in Survive Zombie Arena
Gear is basically the tools you use during a run to help you survive longer. Some gear hurts zombies directly, like turrets. Others slow the horde down, like barricades. Every class in the game comes with its own set of three gear items. So, choosing a class is really choosing a playstyle and a gear set at the same time.
How to Upgrade Gears in Survive Zombie Arena
Upgrading gear in Survive Zombie Arena is pretty simple. Here's what you do:
- Go to the Upgrade Shop stall in the lobby area.
- Talk to Mr. Santito NPC there.
- Click the Gear tab and pick an upgrade that fits your class.
Upgrades cost either Credits or Robux, your choice. Credits take longer to earn but are free. Robux is faster if you want to spend real money.
One tip before you rush into gear upgrades: get your weapon to at least a rifle first. Gear supports your damage, but your gun is still your main source of kills. Upgrade the weapon first, then layer in gear upgrades on top.
All Gears in Survive Zombie Arena
1. Survivor
Survivor is the starter class, and the gear reflects that. Nothing here is going to carry you to the final wave, but it covers the basics well enough while you learn the game.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barricade | ![]() | Common | Blocks zombie paths and absorbs damage |
| Auto Turret | ![]() | Rare | Automatically shoots nearby zombies |
| Landmine | ![]() | Uncommon | Explodes when zombies step on it, deals area damage |
The Landmine is usually getting overlooked, but it’s actually very useful. If you place it in tight areas before a wave starts, it can wipe out a lot of zombies on its own. You can also use the Barricade to force zombies into one path and lead them straight into the explosion.
2. Medic
Medic gear is almost entirely support-focused. In solo play, it feels underwhelming, but in a team of three or four, a Medic who is keeping everyone alive is often worth more than a second damage dealer.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stim Shot | ![]() | Uncommon | +50% attack and move speed, costs some health |
| Mending Tower | ![]() | Rare | Continuously heals nearby structures |
| Healing Station | ![]() | Rare | Continuously heals nearby players |
The Stim Shot stands out because it comes with a risk. It takes some of your health but gives you a big boost in speed and attack power. That might sound dangerous, but it can really help during tough waves. Just make sure you have enough health before using it.
3. Marksman
The tools here are built for players who want to deal damage above everything else. Great solo class if you are confident in your aim.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frag Grenade | ![]() | Uncommon | Throws a grenade, deals burst area damage on impact |
| Deadeye | ![]() | Uncommon | Boosts gun damage and adds bullet pierce temporarily |
| Sonar Ping | ![]() | Uncommon | Marks zombies so they take bonus damage |
Marksman becomes really strong when you combine its tools smartly. Use Sonar Ping first to mark zombies and make them take extra damage. Then activate Deadeye to fire piercing shots that can tear through the whole group. You can also throw a Frag Grenade at a packed group before using Deadeye for even more damage. It’s an easy combo that deals a lot of damage.
4. Engineer
The go-to class if you love holding a spot and building up defenses. One of the best classes for a defensive playstyle in Survive Zombie Arena.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steel Barricade | ![]() | Rare | Heavy-duty barricade with much higher health |
| Flame Turret | ![]() | Rare | Sprays fire in a cone, burning multiple zombies |
| Auto Turret | ![]() | Rare | Automatically targets and fires at nearby zombies |
Unlike the Auto Turret, which attacks one zombie at a time, the Flame Turret can hit multiple zombies at once in front of it. Place it behind your Steel Barricades near a narrow path, and it will burn through groups of zombies as they try to get past.
5. Ninja
Aggressive and fast. The Cloak ability is what makes this class stand out, as it turns you invisible, so zombies ignore you completely for a short time.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloak | ![]() | Rare | Turns you invisible; zombies ignore you briefly |
| Blade Fury | ![]() | Epic | Spin attack that deals damage to all nearby zombies |
| Shuriken | ![]() | Rare | Automatically throws shurikens at nearby zombies |
Cloak is the main reason players pick Ninja. It makes you invisible and causes zombies to stop chasing you. This is especially useful in co-op matches and can save a run that feels lost.
6. Demolitionist
Best suited for players who have already unlocked stronger weapons and want to push their burst damage even further.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stim Shot | ![]() | Uncommon | +50% attack and move speed, costs some health |
| Shockwave Bomb | ![]() | Epic | Releases a knockback and stun shockwave |
| Molotov | ![]() | Rare | Burst area damage on impact, leaves fire on the ground |
You should try the Shockwave Bomb and Molotov combo when you are fighting against large groups. Use the Shockwave Bomb first to stun zombies and push them together, then throw a Molotov at them while they are stuck in place. Since they can’t move, they take full fire damage.
7. Tactician
A direct upgrade to the Engineer. Better gear, better for late waves when zombies hit harder and come in bigger numbers.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vanguard Turret | ![]() | Epic | Heavy turret that targets the strongest nearby zombie first |
| Spikes | ![]() | Uncommon | Periodically extends from the ground to damage nearby zombies |
| Steel Barricade | ![]() | Rare | Heavy-duty barricade with much higher health |
The Vanguard Turret is what makes Tactician different from Engineer. In later waves, stronger zombies can take a lot of damage before they go down. The Vanguard Turret automatically targets those tougher enemies first, helping your team deal with the biggest threats faster.
8. Bastion
This is a defense-focused class built for holding positions and keeping teammates alive during heavy zombie waves. The gear helps for it too:
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bunker | ![]() | Rare | Makes players inside invincible, regenerates HP, and boosts damage. |
| Laser Turret | ![]() | Epic | Automatically tracks zombies and fires rapid long-range lasers. |
| Drone | ![]() | Epic | Auto-attacks zombies and absorbs damage. Multiple drones can create a powerful swarm. |
The Bunker is the centerpiece of everything Bastion does. Drop it when a heavy wave is closing in and your whole team can step inside, become invincible, regenerate health, and come back out with a damage boost ready to go.
9. Necromancer
The most unique class in Survive Zombie Arena. Instead of building defenses or dealing direct damage, you harvest souls from dead zombies and raise them as minions that fight for you.
| Gear | Image | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soul Harvester | ![]() | Epic | Harvests souls from nearby zombie corpses |
| Raise Undead | ![]() | Epic | Consumes souls to summon zombie minions |
| Death Nova | ![]() | Epic | Detonates all active minions for massive area damage |
Necromancer works best when you follow a simple cycle: defeat zombies, use Soul Harvester to collect souls from their bodies, then spend those souls with Raise Undead to summon minions. When a large group gets too close, use Death Nova to explode your minions and deal heavy damage. The more minions you have, the stronger the explosion, so timing it well is very important.
