These Services Are Free During Quarantine

To encourage self-quarantine, a lot of online companies are offering their services for free. For instance, HBO made its 500 hours of entertainment free for the duration of the quarantine. However, finding everything on your own can be challenging and that’s why I have made this guide. Let’s begin.

I’ll divide the services into categories such as Entertainment, Education, Fitness, etc that will make it easier for you to select one. Also, some of these services are only available for US customers, however, you can easily circumvent this restriction by using a VPN. I’ll keep updating this list as I discover more services with free offerings for this time period.

Entertainment

1. 500 hours of HBO

To make your stay at home less boring, HBO decided to offer 500 hours of content to last you weeks. While it is available only in the US, you can follow this guide to get it outside of the US.

2. All the Episodes of Samurai Jack

Adult Swim’s most honorable Samurai, Jack is ready to take you to the fantasy world away from this reality into a more adventurous one. You can check out all the episodes on the Adult Swim website for free.

3. Sling TV Free Trial

Sling TV offers 7 days of free Sling Blue TV streaming, no credit card required. This includes news networks CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, BBC America and much more. However, much like HBO, it’s only available for the U.S users, however, a good VPN should unblock the restrictions.

4. All Episodes of Star Trek: Picard

CBS All Access is offering a one-month free trial that would allow you to access the entire library of the service. To get access, you would have to sign up and enter the Coupon Code “ GIFT” to unlock the 30-day free trial. Engage!

5. Apple TV+

Apple is not the one to shy away from this situation and has released its fair share of shows to keep you occupied. Apple is offering shows such as The Elephant Queen, Little America, Servant, For All Mankind, Snoopy in Space, etc. You can access all of it from the Apple TV app and logging in with an Apple ID.

6. A Few YouTube Originals

YouTube is also offering a few of their premium shows for free and you don’t even need to have a premium subscription for that. The shows include Escape the Night, Impulse, Foursome, Sherwood, etc. You can check out the shows here.

7. Free Premium for Pornhub

Pornhub is doing its part in making your stay at home bearable and that’s why they are offering their Premium catalog for free. You would just have to create an account and you’re good to go. You can sign up here. No credit card needed.

8. Watch Netflix Documentaries

Netflix has made a few of its original Documentaries such as Our Planet narrated by Sir David Attenborough. There are ten documentaries in total and you can simply head over to the Netflix YouTube channel do watch the content.

Skills/ Courses

9. PluralSight

For the entire month of April 2020, PluralSight has made the entire library of more than 7000+ courses free for new users. You can visit the website, register an account and start learning about IT Ops, Machine Learning, Software Development, Cybersecurity, etc.

10. IVY League Courses

Good folks at freecodecamp have made an exhaustive list of free courses from the most prestigious educational institutions of the US. The list has around 450+ courses ranging from Computer Science to Personal development. Check out the list here.

11. Nikon School Video Courses

If you’re an aspiring video content creator then you’d love to know that Nikon School has made their Video classes available for free. They have a very impressive curriculum that includes subjects such as Photographing children and pets, Fundamentals of photography, Art of making music videos, etc. You can check out their website for more information.

12. Free Live Classes for Students

India’s popular edutech platform, Byju’s is offering free Live classes to students who are stuck at home. While the syllabus is tailored towards Indian students, you can still check it out by installing the Byju’s app on your smartphone.

13. Coursera’s Free Courses

The online learning platform, Coursera has made around 3800 of its premium courses available for free. These courses are intended to put the unemployed government workforce back on track and hopefully get a better job. You can check more about it here.

14. Grow with Google OnAir

Google is offering digital skills training, interviews with career experts, and programming from partners including Merit America and the National Congress of American Indians. You can visit their website and get started with the course of your choice.

Fitness

15. Premium Content for Nike Training Club Users

Nike Training Club is the choice of app for a lot of athletes and we at TechWiser recommend it because of its simplicity. NTC has made the premium content available for free until further notice. You can simply install the app on your smartphone and check out the premium section from within the app.

16. Adidas Training by Runtastic- Three Month free trial

Walking on a similar path Adidas training app is also offering a three-month free trial which would allow you access to all of the premium content on the app. You can simply install the free app from the Play Store or the App Store and access the premium content from within the app.

Apps

17. Tinder Passport

Okay so you can’t leave the house and there’s no one interesting nearby on Tinder. You can simply change your location to anywhere in the world with the Passport feature. It is free for the duration of the quarantine and would allow you to meet people from all over the world.

Video/ Audio Editing

18. 90-day Free Trial for FCP X

FCP or Apple’s Final Cut Pro X is the go-to tool for most content creators working from macOS, mainly because it is so intuitive and just works. While the license costs $300, you can get a copy of the software with a 90-day free trial.

19. 90-day Free Trial for Logic Pro X

It’s the music creators’ beloved software that was probably used to make one of your favorite songs from the last decade. Apple is offering a 90-day free trial, no questions asked. Simply put in an email address and you get a copy of the software for the next 90 days.

20. Reaper

Reaper is another music workstation software that is offering a license key that you can use to unlock all the features of the otherwise paid software. If you’re into music, now is a good time to brush up that skill. Get the license key here.

Games

21. Cards Against Humanity

The very popular card game that destroys families is giving out its entire deck in a PDF. If you’re stuck with your family and have a printer, you can print this deck and start playing the game. All the rules are on the website.

22. Steam Games on Sale

If you want to make the most of the Steam Games, buy it during sales. How do you know when a game goes on sale? You can keep track of your favorite games on Steamsales website.

23. Two PS4 games for Free

If you have a PS4 at your home then Sony has two of their most popular games for you. You can play Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey for free till May 6th, 2020. You can read more about Sony’s statement here.

Wrapping Up

These are some of the resources that I found useful and hope you would too.
