- Now you can manually stack pictures in Google Photos.
- Before, you could only unstack images manually.
- This update is available on iOS for now.
We all love clicking pictures, and most of the time, we end up taking multiple shots just to get the perfect one. But keeping all those similar photos organized can be a real headache. That’s where Google Photos comes in handy — it stacks similar photos into one group so your gallery doesn’t look messy. The only issue? You couldn’t manually stack photos… until now.

Google Photos has finally added manual photo stacking on iOS. Now, you can simply select the pictures you want and tap on the ‘Stack Photos’ option. The best part? You’re not limited to similar photos; you can stack any pictures you want, even if they aren’t alike.

This is a great addition to the Photos app — for example, you can stack photos of a single place clicked with different people, or group all your selfies from the same day into one stack.

It’s also super useful when you want to stack multiple pictures of any parties or events, so you can view them afterwards. Or you can stack all the food pics, scenic shots, or outfit snaps separately without cluttering your timeline.
Important Note
We tested it and found that you can only stack images that are already backed up to your Google account. So, if you want to try out this feature, make sure all the photos you want to use in the stack are backed up to Google.
This feature is available starting from Google Photos version 7.29 on iOS. As of now, there’s no word on when it’s coming to Android, but since it has already started rolling out for iPhones, we can expect it to arrive on Android devices pretty soon too.
That’s it, folks! Stay tuned for more updates like this on the latest tech news.
