While many words may reveal themselves to you, the game’s objective is to find words related to the day’s theme.

Today’s theme is Hello kitty.

Here are today’s hints:

  • Strands hint No. 1: what you wear to a party is also the name of a hit Jackie Chan movie.

How to Play NYT Strands

Are you playing Strands for the first time? Don’t know where to play? It’s easy, fun, and addictive. Here’s a short and simple guide for you.

NYT Strands is another word puzzle game from The New York Times. You will see a grid of letters with a theme of the day on the left side. You must find theme words by dragging a mouse (desktop) or finger (mobile) across the letters. Every time you find a non-theme word that’s more than three letters long, the hint bar fills a little. These are called hint words which will help you find theme words. Finding hint words on the grid three times will earn you one hint that will highlight all the letters needed to make a theme word. Unlike Wordle, you get unlimited chances to figure out all the theme words.

Apart from theme words, you will also need to figure out the spangram.

What is a spangram?

A spangram is a special word (it can be two different words combined too) that explains the central theme of the puzzle. It must touch both sides of the puzzle grid either top to bottom or side to side. Making a spangram means finding a word that fits the puzzle’s theme and stretches across the grid by connecting letters

  • Yellow color – it is a spangram.
  • Blue color – it is a valid word that matches today’s theme.
  • Grey color – added to fill the hint bar.
