The stage has been set for a new Apple product this week as CEO Tim Cook teased the arrival of a new “Air” on X (formerly Twitter). While Mark Gurman previously confirmed the arrival of a refreshed MacBook Air, there is a possibility that an updated iPad Air could be in the works. Here is everything you need to know about the iPad Air and MacBook Air M4.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Confirms New Announcement Later This Week
Apple CEO Tim Cook has teased new products later this week while posting a cryptic video on X (formerly Twitter). Cook posted a message saying “This Week” with a video saying “There’s something in the Air”.
While there is no clarity on the products that will debut, Cook is likely referring to the upcoming MacBook Air and iPad Air. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is also working on new iPad Air as they are in “extremely short supply” while the MacBook Air has “been in production longer and has less available inventory”.

New iPad Air M4 Possibly Incoming As Stocks Start To Dwindle
Gurman further claims that Apple will hold a press briefing later this week which will be an hour long. He cited a source claiming that the iPad Air is no longer in stock so there’s a high chance we could see a new Air later this week.
The new MacBook Air M4 will not only bring a spec bump but could also debut with a new optional nano texture coating. Furthermore, the company could introduce new color options and it could offer longer battery backup.
It will be available in 13-inch and 15-inch variants. The new MacBook Air will bring Thunder 4 ports, an improved 12-megapixel webcam with Centre Stage support, and 16GB of RAM on the base model for Apple intelligence.
Similarly, the iPad Air has been long due for an upgrade as it is still stuck on the M2 chipset. Apple could upgrade the iPad Air with a new M4 or even M5 chipset and an optional nano texture coating option similar to the iPad Pro. The latter adds a matte finish resulting in less glare on the screen.
The iPad Air is available in two sizes: 11-inch and 13-inch with similar specifications. It could get other minor upgrades such as Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, Smart HDR 4, and better battery backup.
