Who Is The Avian? Who’s Really Behind the Bird Murders?

We’ve spent the season trying to figure out who the mysterious Avian is, the hooded figure employing birds to kill anyone who gets near the truth. Well, it turns out, it’s not Principal Dort, Isadora Capri, or even Grandmama Frump after all. The Avian is Judi. Yes, that mild-mannered assistant to Dr. Fairburn at Willow Hill.
But Judi is far more than she seems. She is the daughter of Augustus Stonehurst, a former Nevermore teacher who became a Willow Hill patient. Her father’s twisted fascination with Outcasts led him to experiment on both himself and Judi.
The outcome? Judi acquired bird-controlling Avian powers, while Stonehurst went crazy. She has been carrying out her father’s twisted legacy in secret, working under Fairburn’s name to cover herself while performing horrific experiments on Outcasts through the secret LOIS program.
And yes, she’s the one who murdered Sheriff Galpin and his partner using Avian powers, all to make sure the truth stayed buried.
Is LOIS a Person?

You probably assumed Wednesday was chasing down a mysterious woman named Lois the whole time. Nope. LOIS is an acronym for Long-term Outcast Integration Study, a spooky experiment to transfer Outcast powers to Normies. Yes, Judi and her father were kidnapping Outcasts and faking their deaths. They kept them imprisoned in a secret underground lab beneath Willow Hill.
When you finally get a glimpse of what’s down below, it’s terrifying. You encounter a Frankenstein-like creature, a frightened faceless woman, and someone who may even be Tyler’s mother, Francoise Galpin.
Among the tortured test subjects are Patricia Redcar, an alien-like Outcast and longtime patient, and Julian Meiojas, one of Wednesday’s fellow Faceless Outcasts. These aren’t lab rats; they’re human beings, tormented for years.
Does Slurp Get His Revenge and What About Augustus’ Fate

Slurp, your favorite zombie with a growing vocabulary, steps into the spotlight in Episode 4. Brought back to life by Pugsley, the more Slurp consumes brains, the more intelligent he becomes. And when he battles Stonehurst, there’s no hesitation. Slurp devours him with a chilling “Hello, old friend,”.
It happens that the two are familiar with each other. Slurp likely knew Stonehurst from Nevermore, perhaps even as a victim of his from his earliest experiments. This glimpse of recognition makes Slurp greater than comic relief; he’s a tragic character, reclaiming his stolen agency in the worst possible way.
The Return of Hyde: Tyler’s Escape & Thornhill’s Death

Just when things couldn’t possibly get worse, Marilyn Thornhill returns. She tries to manipulate Tyler one more time by freeing him. But this time, he’s not playing along.
The Hyde transforms and rips into Thornhill, killing her in a vicious take-down. He then turns on Wednesday. The two engage in an explosive scene of tension and rage. But the fight ends with Wednesday being thrown out a third-story window.

As she lies motionless and covered in blood on the ground, Wednesday narrates her supposed last thoughts. “I’ve always dreamed of looking death in the face. But in my final moments, all I can hear is my mother’s words ringing in my ears. Maybe I have made everything worse. Much worse.”
Is Wednesday Addams Really Dead?
No, it’s not that easy to kill Wednesday. That final shot, Wednesday unconscious, possibly dead, delivers a gut punch. But come on: this is Wednesday we’re talking about. Netflix is not killing her in mid-season, not with Season 3 already confirmed.
What’s more likely? She’s badly injured, perhaps in a coma, or momentarily dead before being revived. Either way, she’s not dead. Look for her to recover in Part 2, perhaps with powers restored, and a vengeance-fueled mission to end Tyler for good.
Ophelia’s Secret, Morticia’s Past & Wednesday’s Powers

In an unexpected subplot, we finally learn about Ophelia, Morticia’s missing sister. Fester reveals that she was once a patient at Willow Hill and vanished after being overwhelmed by her psychic powers. She was imprisoned by Grandmama, and she hasn’t been seen for 20 years.
Wednesday may have actually run into Ophelia in LOIS. That woman she rescues at the end? It might be Ophelia. This reunion, if true, could be what finally reactivates Wednesday’s powers, something she has been fighting all season.
What’s Principal Dort Really Hiding?

You might’ve thought Dort was the Avian, and to be honest, it would’ve made sense. He’s dishonest, cunning, and panicked about something he’s covering up. Judi may have been the killer, but Dort’s story is far from over. He’s still hiding something, possibly tied to Nevermore or LOIS itself.
Don’t be surprised if he takes center stage as a major antagonist in Part 2.
Enid’s Life Still Hangs in the Balance

Wednesday’s main motivation this season seems to have been to protect Enid. After a vision of her death, Wednesday’s in a hurry to find the Avian and stop it. Now that Judi’s seemingly gone, you’d think Enid is in the clear. But with Tyler still loose and looking for revenge, nobody close to Wednesday is truly out of danger.
What’s Next for Wednesday Season 2 Part 2?
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 left us stunned with more questions than answers: Where is Tyler? Is Ophelia alive? Is Wednesday going to get better in time to prevent another massacre? And what exactly is Principal Dort hiding?
One thing’s certain, you won’t want to miss Part 2. School’s still in session at Nevermore, and Wednesday’s story’s hardly over. Grab your blazer, check under your bed for zombies, and get ready. The next chapter’s going to be even darker.
Wednesday Season Part 2 will release on September 3, 2025, on Netflix.
