  • WhatsApp’s latest iOS update brings dynamic effects and filters to the camera interface.
  • You can now directly apply filters, backgrounds, and more directly from the camera app and share it with your friends and family.
  • You can also access all these effects while recording a video.

WhatsApp has started rolling out a new update for iOS users, introducing filters and AR effects to the camera interface. Previously, you could access these filters and effects only during video calls, but now you can also access them while capturing photos and videos directly from the camera interface.

Here’s a look at the new effects:

  • Dynamic Backgrounds: If you want to keep your surroundings private or just add a little extra flair, you can now replace your background with a custom image or animation. Whether you’re at home or on the go, you can easily change the scene around you with just a tap.
  • AR Effects: You can now add fun animated elements like confetti, star windows, and more. These effects bring a lively and interactive touch to your conversations.
  • Touch-Up Mode: If you want a smoother, more polished look, you can use touch-up mode to subtly enhance your skin tone and reduce minor imperfections. It’s a great way to look your best without overdoing it.
  • Color Tone Adjustments: If you want to change the vibe while capturing a picture or recording a video, you can adjust the color tones of your media, giving you the option to add warmer or cooler hues.
  • Low-Light Mode: If you’re in a dimly lit room, low-light mode automatically adjusts brightness and contrast, making sure you’re visible even when the lighting isn’t ideal.

How to Access the New Filters and AR Effects in WhatsApp

First, make sure you’ve updated your WhatsApp to the latest version (24.25.93) from the App Store. Once you’ve done that, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the WhatsApp app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the Camera icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap on the Magic Wand icon.
  4. Swipe through the toolbar at the bottom to switch between effects, filters, and backgrounds. Choose the one you like!
  5. You’ll find the low-light mode and touch-up mode options in the top right corner. Use these to brighten up dark photos or subtly enhance your appearance.

When to Use These New Effects and Filters

These new features come in handy for all sorts of situations:

  • Celebrations: Add fun AR filters to your pictures and videos during birthdays, festivals, or casual get-togethers to make your moments more lively and engaging.
  • Enhanced Privacy: If you’re in a public place or don’t want your surroundings to be visible, use the background effects to blur or replace your background entirely when recording a video or taking a picture.
  • Low-Light Environments: Capture clear photos and videos even at night with the low-light mode.

This update is currently rolling out to WhatsApp users on iOS. While many have already received it, it is not yet available for the WhatsApp Business app.

Recently, WhatsApp introduced the ability to scan and share documents directly within the app and has been on a roll with new features, which also means ending support for older iPhone models.
