Similar to Instagram, you can now tweak your chats with some cool themes. Currently available only for beta users, WhatsApp has revealed it will roll out globally in the coming weeks.

The Meta-owned company has revealed that there are more than 30 wallpaper options available. What’s even better is that you can upload one from your camera roll too. Furthermore, you can apply a global theme across all chats or customize individual chats according to your preference. Whether you have an annoying friend or a special someone, you can set a specific chat theme to let them know.
You can now finally get rid of those boring and dull stock chat bubbles and themes. The Chat Themes feature is available on WhatsApp beta version 2.25.4.11.
How to Change Chat Theme on WhatsApp
Here is how to change the chat themes on WhatsApp globally:
- Open WhatsApp and tap on the three-dot menu to open Settings or tap on the Settings pane.
- Scroll down and choose the Chats option.
- In the display section, press the default chat theme.
Here you can choose from a wide range of chat bubbles and themes based on your preferences. You can swipe left or right to preview more themes and then press the green tick in the top right corner to confirm your selection.

If you wish to change the chat theme on WhatsApp just for a specific chat, here’s how you can do so:
- Open WhatsApp and select the chat you wish to change the theme for.
- Tap on the three-dot icon in Android or simply press the chat name on iOS
- Now choose the theme you want and tap on the green tick in the right corner.
That’s it, you have successfully changed the theme of your chat! Now go ahead and set the vibe for the conversation by simply choosing the chat theme of your liking.
