Solo Leveling season 2, episode 13 delivered a thrilling conclusion to the Jeju Island arc, unveiling new mysteries and looming antagonists. The episode showed Jinwoo’s desperate effort to save Hae-In by transforming Byung-Gyu into a Shadow Soldier. He also extracted the Ant King’s shadow, making him the first General-rank soldier in his army. With his army growing day by day, there are very few in the series who even stand a chance against our protagonist.

However, the most intriguing part of the finale was the two mysterious figures the Knights Guild members encountered while conducting a sweep of the ants’ chambers on Jeju Island. These characters appear to be very strong as one of them managed to put all the Hunters to sleep instantly with a snap of his fingers.
Who are Rakan and Sillad?

The two characters are Rakan, the Monarch of Fangs and King of Beasts, and Sillad, the Monarch of Frost and King of Snow Folk. When the Knights Guild members were conducting cleanup of the ants on Jeju Island, they came across one hulking young man with tan skin, glowing yellow eyes, sharp teeth, and wild black hair. Seeing him in the restricted area, the Hunters immediately drew their weapons, inquiring as to who he was and what he was doing here. Before the confrontation could escalate any further, a mysterious figure from the shadows snapped his fingers, putting the Hunters to sleep.
The mysterious figures then appeared from the shadows. The two seemed to be looking for someone and tracked their power to this cave. The young muscular man is the Beast Monarch Rakan, and the elderly blue elf is the Frost Monarch Sillad. They are extremely powerful Monarchs who are looking for someone. They don’t want unnecessary confrontation but the extent of their power was shown when they casually opened their respective gates to leave the cave.
Who are Rakan and Sillad Looking for?

Rakan and Sillad are tracking a mysterious individual – former Shadow Monarch Ashborn (previously a Ruler). Since Jinwoo had already awakened as the Shadow Monarch’s successor, his powers drew the two Monarchs to the cave where he fought against the Ant King. Sillad thinks Ashborn won’t help humans, but Rakan says his weird behavior is not new. Despite their strength, the two don’t want to attract unnecessary attention and are working together.
Rakan and Sillad are powerful Monarchs and archenemies of the Rulers. They will act as major antagonists in season 3 of Solo Leveling. Their introduction hints at the Great War that is brewing on the horizon and will likely change the world of Solo Leveling forever. It will be exciting for fans to see Jinwoo fight the Monarchs in season 3 as he continues to level up and finally inherit Ashborn’s title as the Shadow Monarch and bring an end to the centuries-spanning war between the Rulers and the Monarchs.
