One UI 7: What We Know So Far About Design Overhaul

Several leaks, in the form of images and videos, are making rounds on the internet regarding One UI 7 even as we prepare for the arrival of One UI 6.1.1. One UI 7 will be running on Android 15. Here is everything we know so far about One UI 7 and Samsung’s plans for an overhaul with a new design, not just new features.

An X user (formerly and belovedlyTwitter) chunvn8888, claims that One UI 7 will borrow design elements and inspiration from not just Apple’s iOS 18 but also from Xiaomi’s HyperOS. That’s an unusual mix for sure. Where things get interesting is a video of the two-panel notification center. It seems swiping left inside the notification center will now reveal the quick settings panel.

This looks interesting but may introduce a two-step process to access Quick Settings, which users may not appreciate. Hopefully, swiping down from the top-right corner will continue to work.

Some other changes that the tipster says are coming:

  • A new icon pack with more rounded and 3D-looking icons like in the Vision Pro.
  • Lock screen’s quick action takes a cue from iOS with rounded icons but can be remapped.
  • Gallery app has a white background with a rainbow flower which again mimics iOS’s Gallery app.
  • Notification panel will have two pages now that can be swiped horizontally instead of vertically as in the HyperOS.
  • Lock screen widgets will be more rounded.
  • Camera app’s quick settings will be moved to the bottom for easier access.

Apart from this, vertical scrolling and app lock were scheduled to come with One UI 6.1.1 earlier as part of Good Lock’s Home Up module, but it seems the feature has been removed now. Reason? One UI 7 is already slated to have a vertical app drawer so no sense in providing the same feature in two places.

The beta version of Android 15 is here which means the beta version of One UI 7 should arrive soon for S and Z series hopefully.

One UI 7, based on Samsung’s past release cycles should arrive sometime around September followed by the Samsung Developer Conference or SDC 2024. We are excited to test the beta version. Follow us so you don’t miss out on what’s coming next to your Samsung Galaxy devices.
