Summer Game Fest 2025 showcased a new trailer for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the highly anticipated Soulslike action-RPG that’s been in development for four years. Developer Leenzee confirmed the game will launch on July 24, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Set in the final years of the Ming dynasty, this dark fantasy adventure promises to put a fresh spin on the popular Souls formula.

What Makes Wuchang Different
While Wuchang: Fallen Feathers clearly draws inspiration from Dark Souls and other FromSoftware games, it brings its own unique elements to the genre. The game takes place in a more vibrant and populated world than typical Souls games, featuring bright colors and detailed Chinese architecture that creates a different atmosphere from the usual grim settings.
The combat follows familiar Souls mechanics with lock-on targeting, dodging, and stamina management, but adds some interesting twists. Perfectly timed dodges slow down time for enemies, giving you a window to counterattack. Wuchang includes an extensive spell system based on Taoist rituals and Chinese folklore. The game also offers a unique Feathering system. As protagonist Bai Wuchang absorbs Red Mercury and defeats corrupted enemies, she gains powerful abilities, but at the cost of stability.
Unlike many Souls games that can feel lonely, Wuchang features numerous fully-voiced NPCs throughout the world. Players can talk to townspeople, receive side quests, and even enjoy some humor in dialogue.
The game also includes a large skill tree system that goes beyond typical Souls progression, offering upgrades for dodge bonuses, stamina recovery, health increases, and more complex character development options.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers looks positioned to offer something fresh in the crowded Souls-like market. Its colorful Chinese setting, enhanced combat mechanics, and more populated world could appeal to both longtime genre fans and newcomers who found previous games too isolating.
