You Can Now Create Ghibli Style Images for Free With ChatGPT: Here’s How

Studio Ghibli-style images are taking over the world, and I am all for it. ChatGPT recently rolled out its image-generation feature for premium users, offering cool ways to generate a Ghibli-style image. The company is finally rolling out the feature for free ChatGPT users, so you don’t need to pay for a subscription to generate Ghibli-style images.

ChatGPT Can Now Generate Ghibli Images for Free

If you have a ChatGPT free account, you can join in on the Ghibli trend without spending a single penny. The feature is currently rolling out to all users. For those unaware, Ghibli refers to the arty style of Japan’s Studio Ghibli, found in animes like Spirited Away and Grave of the Fireflies.

To use this feature, you will need to rely on ChatGPT’s image-generation feature. Here’s how you can do so:

1. Open ChatGPT and log in to your account.
2. Upload the image you wish to transform into a Ghibli-style image by clicking on the + icon.
3. Now type: Create Studio Ghibli of this image or Ghiblify this.
4. Tap on the download icon to save the image and share it with your friends.

Note: The new image-generation model is still rolling out for free users. I wasn’t able to use the feature but it was working on my colleague’s account. Also, you can only create 3 images per day with a free account.

One thing worth noting is that it can be a bit of a hit and a miss as ChatGPT can sometimes decline due to “content policy restrictions”. However, if you prompt it again, then it can create a ghibli if you are lucky. If you have the older model, you will need to wait for the “updated” icon next to the “Create Image” option.

Nevertheless, it’s great that you can now make those amazing Ghibli images without paying a dime. Recently, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed that the image creation was “melting” their GPU. This led to the company eventually placing daily limits for both paid and free users.

Apart from those Ghibli styled images, you can also generate detailed photos with Open’s AI model. Previously, the chatbot generated images using DALL-E, but it can now do so natively. This has removed the dependence on external models, allowing it to create more detailed and consistent images.
