No day is complete without Google rolling out a new AI feature to one of its products. This time, the search giant is releasing new AI features for YouTube. This time, we are getting two new AI features for both Premium and free users. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
YouTube Gets AI Overview And Conversational AI Features
Starting with the one for Premium users, Google is adding an AI overview in the search results carousel. So whenever you search for a new video, it will show a carousel of AI-generated clips and images.
This will give you more details about a product or a tourist destination. You can also read the AI-generated description for more details.

So if you search for the “best beaches in Hawaii,” then it will show the best snorkel spots and volcanic beaches. The AI will also help you plan your day with a detailed description and relevant videos.
The feature is currently in the experimental phase and available to a select number of users. It’s work similar to the AI overview in Google Search.
You get a trimmed portion of a YouTube video that you can watch in the search results without venturing off Google. It’s currently available only for YouTube Premium users that too in the US.
Another new feature is the conversational AI tool available for free users. With this feature, you press the Ask button at the bottom of a video to get more details. For instance, if you’re watching a video and come across a catchy tune, you can simply ask the AI the name of the song.
The conversational feature in YouTube will be released in the coming weeks and will be available in waves as part of a test. It was previously available only for Premium users and is now getting a wider rollout. Although it’s only restricted to English language users living in the US.
How To Enable AI Overview Carousel
- Open the YouTube app and go to the Settings section
- Tap on the Try Experimental New Features section
- Enable “AI Powered Search Results Carousel”
Now try searching for things related to shopping and vacation, such as “best MacBook to buy” or “places to visit in New York”. You will now see AI carousel clips in your results.
In case you wish to opt out, you won’t have to do anything as the trial will only last till July 30, 2025 As for the conversational AI feature, it’s rolling out in batches and should be available to all users.
