  • YouTube Music is getting a new lyrics sharing feature.
  • Similar to Spotify, you can now select and share the lyrics of any song.
  • The feature is a server-side one and is currently being rolled out.

YouTube Music is undoubtedly one of the most popular music streaming apps out there. And since it’s cheaper than Spotify, most people have migrated to YouTube Music with their library. Although it has been missing one major feature: lyrics sharing, and Google seems to have finally heard your prayers (or songs, maybe). YouTube Music is finally getting a feature that lets you share the lyrics of your favourite songs with others.

How to Share Lyrics on YouTube Music

Currently, the lyrics sharing feature on YouTube Music is in the testing phase and rolling out to users. Furthermore, the feature is not available in the latest version of the app and is most likely a server-side update.

That being said, the lyrics sharing feature on YouTube Music pretty much works just like Spotify. Here’s how to use the feature:

  1. Open YouTube Music and play any song that has the lyrics available.
  2. Tap on the Share button in the lyrics menu.
  3. Select the part of the lyrics you wish to share by choosing the lines.
  4. You can now choose the background color or even set an image of your choice.
  5. This will create a title containing the song’s name, artist, and lyrics. You can post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, or any other app of your choice. There is also an option to download the image.

We tried to test the feature on YouTube Music 8.15.51, and the feature did not work. Maybe Google will issue a server-side update since users on Reddit have been able to access it on the same version.

It’s good to see YouTube Music catch up with Spotify with these features. Hopefully, they can overhaul the user interface to make it more visually appealing, too.
