  • YouTube has released a new AI feature called Ask.
  • You can now directly ask questions related to the video you are watching and get answers.
  • No need to watch the whole video.
  • Currently available to YouTube Premium subscribers on Android phones only.

YouTube videos teach us all kinds of things. You can learn anything from finance to academia and more. But sometimes, they are too complex and difficult to understand leaving you with doubts and questions.

Enter Ask. A new generational AI chatbot from Google that can answer all your questions about the video you are watching. The feature is only available to YouTube Premium users or those part of the YouTube Family plan. Also, it has been rolled out to Android users only for now but should soon be available to both iOS and web users too.

No point for guessing the Ask AI chatbot is powered by Google’s Gemini AI model. It can summarize the video for you, answer questions based on what the video was all about, expand upon the topic further, translate and transcript, and more. Ask chatbot AI will work for all videos across the platform which raises the question of data collection.

What I truly like about the Ask chatbot AI is its conversational nature. It’s like having a friend who knows everything about every YouTube video ever.

The Ask button is located right under the video player. YouTube’s Ask AI will be able to answer all your questions inside the app itself. It won’t open in a browser or 3rd-party app. The feature is rolling out as we speak and should be soon available on your Android phone provided, you are subscribed to a premium plan.
