How Vivian’s Skills Work

Vivian uses Flight Feathers and Guard Feathers to control her damage output, with both resources capped at 5 stacks. What makes Vivian special is her ability to deal significant damage while she’s not even on the field, supporting her teammates from the sidelines.

When you first bring Vivian into battle, she automatically starts with 2 Flight Feathers because of her Core Passive skill “Dirge of Destiny.” These Flight Feathers are your starting resource that you’ll want to build up while Vivian is actively fighting. You can gain more Flight Feathers in several ways – her EX Special Attack “Violet Requiem” gives 3 feathers, Chain Attack grants 2, and her Ultimate provides a full 5 feathers. You can also gain them through her Basic Attack combo, though this is slower.

Once you have Flight Feathers, the next step is converting them to Guard Feathers. This happens when Vivian enters the “Fluttering Frock” state. Each Flight Feather converts into one Guard Feather during this process. The easiest way to do this is to use a skill that puts her into Fluttering Frock state (like her EX Special) and then press Basic Attack. You can also switch characters while she’s in Fluttering Frock state, and she’ll automatically do the attack.

Guard Feathers are what enable Vivian’s off-field support. When she has Guard Feathers and is not the active character, she will consume one Guard Feather to perform her “Featherbloom” attack whenever your active character uses an EX Special Attack. This Featherbloom attack deals Ether damage.

In actual gameplay, you’ll want to follow a simple rotation: get Flight Feathers, convert them to Guard Feathers, switch to another character to let Vivian support from off-field, and then switch back to Vivian when her Guard Feathers run out.

Best W-Engines for Vivian in ZZZ

For Vivian’s W-Engine, these options work well with her kit:

W-EngineEffect
Flight of Fancy
Flight of Fancy
Increases Anomaly Buildup Rate by 40%. When dealing Ether DMG, Anomaly Proficiency increases by 20 for 5s, stacking up to 6 times.
Timeweaver
Timeweaver
The equipper’s Electric Anomaly Buildup Rate increases by 30%. When Special Attacks or EX Special Attacks hit enemies suffering an Attribute Anomaly, the equipper’s Anomaly Proficiency increases by 75 for 15s.
Electro-Lip Gloss
Electro-Lip Gloss
When enemies have Attribute Anomaly, the equipper’s ATK increases by 10% and deals 15% more DMG to the target.
Weeping Gemini
Weeping Gemini
When a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly, gains Anomaly Proficiency +30, stacking up to 4 times.

Vivian can use several different W-Engines depending on what you have available. While her signature W-Engine Flight of Fancy gives her the most Anomaly stats, you don’t need to worry if you don’t have it. Timeweaver is a strong alternative. For players who don’t have 5-star options, Weeping Gemini offers surprisingly good performance with its stacking Anomaly Proficiency effect.

Best Drive Discs for Vivian in ZZZ

For Drive Discs, here are some strong options for Vivian:

Drive Disc SetPiecesMain Stats Recommendation
Phaethon’s Melody4-pieceSlot 4: Anomaly Proficiency

Slot 5: Ether DMG%

Slot 6: Anomaly Mastery
Chaos Jazz2-pieceAnomaly Proficiency +30
Freedom Blues2-pieceIncreases Anomaly Proficiency by 30
Chaotic Metal2-pieceIncreases Ether DMG by 10%.

When building Vivian’s Drive Discs, focus on maximizing her Anomaly stats since her damage scales heavily with Anomaly Proficiency. The 4-piece Phaethon’s Melody set works well because it boosts her Anomaly stats and Ether damage even when she’s off-field. For the 2-piece set, you have several options depending on what you need – both Chaos Jazz and Freedom Blues provide Anomaly Proficiency, while Chaotic Metal gives a straight Ether DMG boost.

Don’t stress too much if you don’t have perfect Drive Discs right away. Even with decent stats, Vivian can perform well as long as you pair her with the right teammates and understand her rotation.

Is Vivian Worth Pulling?

Vivian represents a significant addition to the Zenless Zone Zero character roster, but whether she’s worth pulling depends largely on your current team composition and preferred playstyle. Based on her performance in the current meta and her unique mechanics, here’s a breakdown to help you decide if you should invest in her banner.

For players who already have established Anomaly characters, especially those of different elements like Yanagi or characters that can apply Anomalies quickly, Vivian is an excellent investment.

Vivian also shines for players who enjoy strategic resource management and team rotations. Her off-field damage capability means you don’t need to keep her on the field for long periods, allowing your main DPS characters to stay active while still benefiting from her support. This makes her particularly valuable in teams that already have strong on-field DPS characters who would otherwise compete for field time.

However, new players or those with limited character rosters might want to consider other options first. Vivian requires specific team compositions to reach her full potential, and without proper Anomaly-applying teammates, her value diminishes significantly. She also demands more understanding of game mechanics compared to straightforward DPS characters, which might not be ideal for players still learning the basics.
