Xbox Series X25 Release Countdown

Xbox just dropped some big news at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, and if you have been an Xbox fan for a while, this one is going to be different. Microsoft is doing something they have never done before with the Xbox Series X, and it is all about celebrating a massive milestone. Here is everything you need to know.

Xbox Series X25 Global Release Date and Time

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition is launching in November 2026, which is no coincidence. The original Xbox first hit store shelves in November 2001. That makes this release a proper 25-year full-circle moment.

The exact release date and preorder windows have not been announced yet. Xbox has said more details are coming soon, including pricing and which retailers will carry it. Since this is a limited edition, it will only be available in select markets, so you will want to stay on top of your local Xbox store or preferred retailer.

Here is what we know about the release window right now:

We will update this table as soon as Xbox confirms the official date and time. To avoid missing preorders, you should turn on notifications from your regional Xbox store or sign up for alerts at your preferred retailer now.

What Is the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition?

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition is a special version of the Xbox Series X made to mark 25 years of Xbox. To be clear, this is not a more powerful console. It carries the same hardware as the standard Xbox Series X.

What makes it stand out is how it looks and all the little details packed into the design. The whole thing is built around a translucent OG Green shell, so you can actually see through the body of the console. It is the first time Xbox has ever brought a translucent design to the Series X, and it is a direct callback to the original Xbox from 2001 and the green color that defined the brand from day one.

When you power it on, the iconic “X” logo lights up green. This is a nod to the original Xbox startup experience. On the front, you will find the Xbox 25th Anniversary logo, and Microsoft has also teased that there are hidden surprises scattered throughout the design as a thank you to the community that has been with them for the last 25 years. Those surprises have not been fully revealed yet.

This was announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2026 by Jason Ronald, VP of Next Generation at Xbox. It is part of a broader celebration Microsoft has planned for the 25th anniversary, and the console is just one piece of it.

What to Expect

Controller

The Xbox Series X25 console comes bundled with the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. It has the same translucent OG green, and the ABXY buttons have the original four colors (green, red, blue, yellow). Additionally, the bumpers are black and white, honoring the original Duke controller – this is a really thoughtful detail that fans of the OG era will immediately recognize.

Bundle or Solo

You can pick up the controller bundled with the console, or grab it separately if you already own an Xbox Series X or play on PC. That is a great option for collectors or anyone who just wants a piece of Xbox history without buying a whole new console.

Limited Availability

This is a limited edition in select markets only. Once it sells out, that is likely it. If you are serious about getting one, have your payment info ready and set up alerts. Do not wait on this one.

The Xbox Series X25 is one of those rare limited releases that actually feels like it was made with love for the fans. Keep an eye out for preorder announcements and act fast when they go live.
