Resident Evil Requiem introduces two main characters with very different backgrounds and gameplay styles. Leon Kennedy is a returning fan favorite who has been in the series for decades, while Grace Ashcroft is a brand new face making her debut. Here's everything you need to know about both Leon and Grace including their ages and past appearances.
Leon S. Kennedy - The Veteran Agent
Leon Kennedy is approximately 49 years old in Resident Evil Requiem, which takes place in 2026. He first appeared in Resident Evil 2 back in 1998 as a rookie cop on his first day at the Raccoon City Police Department. Since then, Leon has become one of the most iconic characters in the entire franchise.

Over the years, Leon has appeared in multiple Resident Evil games including Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 6, and several CGI animated films like Degeneration, Damnation, and Vendetta. He works as a special agent for the Division of Security Operations (DSO), a counterterrorism unit under the U.S. President. His experience dealing with bioterrorism threats spans nearly three decades.
In Requiem, Leon is dealing with Raccoon City Syndrome - a condition affecting survivors of the 1998 outbreak caused by prolonged T-Virus exposure. He's in Stage 3 of the infection, which makes his mission more urgent. Despite his deteriorating health, Leon investigates disappearances connected to a new bioweapon. His gameplay focuses on action with firearms, melee combat using a hatchet, and parrying enemy attacks.
Leon is voiced and motion-captured by Nick Apostolides, who has played the character since the Resident Evil 2 Remake in 2019.

Grace Ashcroft - The New Protagonist
Grace Ashcroft is around 22 years old in Resident Evil Requiem. She was born approximately in 2004, making her much younger and less experienced than Leon. This is Grace's first appearance in the Resident Evil series as a completely new character.

Grace works as an FBI intelligence analyst, not a field agent. She has firearms training but lacks real combat experience, which reflects in her gameplay. Her sections emphasize stealth, puzzle-solving, and careful resource management - the classic survival horror approach.
What makes Grace's backstory unique is her connection to Umbrella Corporation's founder, Oswell E. Spencer. Spencer adopted Grace as a baby and later passed her guardianship to journalist Alyssa Ashcroft, who became Grace's adoptive mother. Alyssa was a survivor of the original Raccoon City outbreak and appeared as a playable character in Resident Evil Outbreak (2004).

Grace's mother was murdered at the Wrenwood Hotel in 2018 when Grace was just 14 years old. This traumatic event shapes her entire character. Eight years later, Grace is assigned to investigate another death at that same hotel, which pulls her into the main story. Her investigation leads to discovering her true origins and confronting the conspiracy surrounding a mysterious entity called Elpis.

Grace is voiced and motion-captured by Angela Sant'Albano, who also served as her face model. By the end of the game, Grace adopts Emily, one of the victims of bioweapon experimentation, giving both characters a hopeful conclusion.
