Video game remakes and remasters are making headlines almost every day now. It's not just all visuals though, the storyline is also getting interesting in some cases. Many games, from the return of forgotten RPGs to giant classics like Silent Hill and The Witcher, are making a comeback. 1. Steins;Gate Re

Steins;Gate Re remake is going to be a lot more than a basic visual upgrade. There will be new artwork, new story material, new music, and updated character animation. However, the original time-travel story about Rintaro Okabe remains the core. It won't forget the accidental creation of a machine that could alter the past.

2. Rayman Legends Retold

Ubisoft is taking a different approach with Rayman Legends: Retold. The remake will be in 3D with a new world, four new musical stages, story changes, and dragon-riding sequences. The popular video game remake will be four-player couch co-op and comes bundled with Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition.

3. Toy Story 3: Complete Edition

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition is interesting because it’s a licensed movie game that Digital Eclipse is reviving and that has largely disappeared from modern storefronts. Nobody thought Gungrave G.O.R.E. Blood Heat would get a remake this early, as the original game was released as recently as 2022. But the shift to Unreal Engine 5 might have triggered that decision. Alongside the engine upgrade, it will feature new characters, revamped combat, improved enemy AI, improved cinematics, and 360-degree controls.

7. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Nintendo is very secretive here. Ocarina of Time was amongst all the confirmed titles in the Nintendo Direct June 2026, but the company hasn't shown enough gameplay footage to explain how much is being changed. Arguably the biggest talking point of the game is that uncertainty. No one knows yet how far Nintendo will take its reinterpretation of the N64 classic.

A pair of early Musou titles are getting a revival in the form of Dynasty Warriors 3 and Xtreme Legends. The nostalgia is part of the appeal. The remaster revisits one of the titles that helped cement the series' 1-vs.-1,000 formula. On the other hand, it is modernizing the presentation and cramming in extra content around a combat system that would go on to define the genre. 9. Tales of Eternia Remastered

The interesting part here is how much control players have over the old and new versions. In the remastered Tales of Eternia, players can toggle between the remastered and original visuals and sound effects. It also adds encounter controls, faster combat, destination icons, Battle Retry and new difficulty options without replacing the original adventure. The core story still revolves around the original adventure of Reid Hershel and his friends through Inferia and Celestia

10. God of War Trilogy Remake

This isn't a rumor anymore, but the project is still extremely early. Santa Monica Studio has confirmed remakes of the original Greek trilogy. That covers Kratos' first three main adventures - God of War, God of War II, and God of War III The fascinating question is what gets changed. Apart from that, there will be another GoW title.
