The Four Symbol Puzzle is one of the biggest puzzles in the Desolation It Wrought phase of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. You’ll find four sockets in the main hall, each requiring a symbol. To discover these symbols, you need to complete separate puzzles located behind each socket. The first one is the Platforms With Traps Puzzle. Here is how to solve the Four Symbol Puzzle in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
First Socket - Platforms With Traps Puzzle

After activating the mechanism in the main hall with the Sphere Key, head through the path behind the first socket. This takes you to a platforming section filled with spike traps. You need to cross the platforms by following the symbol sequence shown on the ground.
The sequence is:
Dots > Squid > Dots > Flower > Squid
The same four symbols appear on the platforms throughout the area. Stepping on the wrong symbol activates the spikes, so make sure you follow the sequence correctly.
- Check the symbols on the ground at the beginning of the puzzle. They show the correct order: Dots → Squid → Dots → Flower → Squid.
- Jump onto the first platform with the Dots symbol.
- From there, jump to the Squid platform.
- Continue to the next Dots platform.
- Jump onto the Flower platform.
- Continue to the Squid platform.
- Keep following the same sequence as you move across the platforms.
- Avoid platforms with the wrong symbol, as stepping on one activates the spike trap and kills you.
- The path becomes trickier near the second-last section. You won't find the next required symbol by continuing forward.
- Instead, move backward to the Squid platform.
- From the Squid platform, jump back onto the Dots platform you previously used.
- From there, continue with Flower → Squid → Dots to complete the sequence.
- Continue across the remaining platforms until you reach the end.
The main thing that can throw you off is the section where the correct platform isn't ahead of you. Don't assume you've made a mistake. The puzzle expects you to backtrack.
Once you reach the Squid platform, return to the previous Dots platform and continue following the sequence. This lets you complete the remaining section without triggering the spike traps.

After completing the Platforms With Traps Puzzle, you’ll discover the first symbol required for the Four Symbol Puzzle. You’ll then need to return to the main hall and solve the puzzles behind the other sockets to find the remaining three symbols.

Second Socket - Light Alignment Puzzle
Head to the second socket in the main hall and follow the path behind it. You’ll encounter a few enemies along the way, so deal with them before continuing deeper into the area.
Eventually, you’ll reach a locked gate surrounded by red, blue, and green light dots. This is your first Sphere Key alignment challenge.
1. Open the First Colored Light Gate

Take out the Sphere Key and switch it to its three-light mode. You’ll see three colored rays coming from the Sphere Key: red, blue, and green.
Rotate the Sphere Key until all three rays line up with the corresponding colored dots around the gate.
Once all three lights are aligned correctly, the gate opens.
2. Clear the Stairs With the Reflector

Go through the gate and you'll find a reflector inside. Use it to clear the solidified dust covering the stairs.
Direct the reflector's light onto the dusty section until the material disappears. Once the stairs are clear, continue climbing.
3. Open the Second Colored Light Gate

At the top of the stairs, you'll reach another locked gate surrounded by the same red, blue, and green light dots.
Take out the Sphere Key again and switch it to its three-light mode. Rotate it until the red, blue, and green rays line up with their respective dots.
Once the three lights are aligned, the gate opens.
Be careful while approaching this gate, though. The platform leading to it contains spike traps, so time your movement carefully and avoid rushing across.
After passing through this gate, you'll finally reach the main puzzle area.
4. Clear the Solidified Dust From the Lever

The main room has a huge central platform with several reflectors on it. Solidified dust covers parts of the area, including a lever on the central platform.
The lever is stuck because of the hardened dust, so you need to clear it first.
Head to the reflector on the central platform and use it to direct light onto the dusty lever. Once the light hits the dust, it disappears and frees the lever.
Now rotate the lever. A platform will rise from the middle of the room, creating a route toward the gate on the opposite side.
5. First Platform Light Alignment
Cross onto the newly raised platform and approach the gate. Before you can reach it, you'll notice more red, blue, and green light dots scattered around the room.
From the platform leading toward the gate, turn your view back toward the central platform. Then look slightly to the right.
Take out the Sphere Key in its three-light mode and align its red, blue, and green rays with the corresponding dots.

Once the three rays hit their targets, two additional platforms will appear, creating the next section of the route.
These platforms contain spike traps, so don't sprint across them blindly. Time your jumps and movements carefully to avoid getting caught.
6. Second Platform Light Alignment
After crossing the spike-trap platforms, you'll reach the next platform. You'll need to perform another three-light alignment here.
Take out the Sphere Key and adjust its position until the red, blue, and green rays line up with the colored dots around the room.

When the lights connect with the correct dots, another platform appears, extending the route around the central platform.
7. Raise the Next Platform
Cross to the newly revealed platform. You'll find another lever that Leni needs to operate.
Get Leni into position and have her rotate the lever. This raises another platform from below, giving you a route to the next section.
Once the platform reaches the correct height, cross over to it and continue forward.
By this point, you'll be moving around the right side of the central platform and gradually making your way around it.
8. Cross the Spike Trap Platform

The next platform is another spike trap, but this one uses a different mechanic.
Instead of using the three-light mode, take out the Sphere Key and switch to its other light mode.
Shine the Sphere Key's light onto the metal platform. A glowing trail will appear across the surface, revealing the safe route through the spike trap.
Follow the glowing trail carefully to reach the other side.
Don't try to guess the path or run straight across; the trail shows you exactly where to go.
9. Final Light Alignment
After reaching the other side, you'll find another gate surrounded by the familiar red, blue, and green light dots.
Take out the Sphere Key once again and switch back to the three-light mode. Adjust its position until all three colored rays line up with their corresponding dots.

Once the lights are correctly aligned, the final gate opens.
Go through the gate to find the second symbol for the Four Symbol Puzzle.
Second Symbol Is Complete

That's it for the second section of the Four Symbol Puzzle. You've now discovered the second symbol needed for the main gate.
Return to the main hall and head toward the next socket to begin the puzzle for the third symbol.

Third Socket - Colored Lens Puzzle
The third socket in the Four Symbol Puzzle leads to a large room filled with lenses and reflectors. Your goal is to direct the red, blue, and green light beams onto their matching colored medallions in the center of the room. Solving the puzzle reveals the third symbol needed for the Four Symbol Puzzle.
1. Enter the Colored Lens Puzzle
When you reach the third socket's gate, the main entrance to the puzzle room is blocked. Sophia needs to find another way inside.
Look to the right side of the blocked entrance to find a ladder. Climb it and follow the path at the top to enter the puzzle room.
Once inside, you'll find a socket podium directly ahead and a large hall filled with lenses and reflectors. There is no light in the room yet, but that changes once you interact with the socket.

Place your Sphere Key into the socket. This activates three large lenses and brings light into the room. The main entrance also opens automatically, allowing Leni to enter.
2. How the Colored Lens Puzzle Works

You will now notice three colored lenses positioned around the hall:
- Red Lens
- Blue Lens
- Green Lens
At the center of the room is a platform with a pillar containing three colored medallions. Each light needs to reach its corresponding medallion:
Red light → Red medallion
Blue light → Blue medallion
Green light → Green medallion
Use the reflectors around the room to redirect each beam toward its matching medallion.
3. Red Lens Solution
The red beam has the simplest path.
Direct the red lens toward the reflector on the right side of the central platform. Rotate the reflector until it sends the light directly toward the red medallion.
The complete path is:
Red Lens → Right Reflector → Red Medallion
4. Blue Lens Solution
The blue beam is a little trickier because you cannot send it directly to the blue medallion.
First, direct the blue lens toward the reflector on the left side of the central platform.
From there, redirect the beam toward the reflector positioned directly behind the central platform.
Next, direct the light toward the reflector at the back-left side of the central platform. Finally, rotate this reflector so the beam hits the blue medallion.
The complete path is:
Blue Lens → Left Reflector → Rear Reflector → Back-Left Reflector → Blue Medallion
5. Green Lens Solution
The green beam also requires only one reflector.
Direct the green lens toward the reflector at the back-right side of the central platform. Rotate this reflector until the beam reaches the green medallion.
The complete path is:
Green Lens → Back-Right Reflector → Green Medallion
6. Colored Lens Puzzle Solution
Use the diagram below to visualize the paths of all three beams. The yellow circles represent the light sources, the colored circles represent the three lenses, and the diamond-shaped objects are the reflectors. The colored lines show the path of each beam.
- Red: Red Lens > Right Reflector > Red Medallion
- Blue: Blue Lens > Left Reflector > Rear Reflector > Back-Left Reflector > Blue Medallion
- Green: Green Lens > Back-Right Reflector > Green Medallion
Once all three beams hit their matching medallions, the Colored Lens Puzzle is complete, and you will obtain the third symbol for the Four Symbol Puzzle.
FAQs
The Four Symbol Puzzle is a large multi-stage puzzle in Desolation It Wrought. You need to complete several smaller puzzles to discover the symbols required to unlock the main gate.
The Four Symbol Puzzle consists of four socket puzzles, with each puzzle revealing a symbol needed for the final solution. But you only need to complete 3 puzzles to progress further.
The first puzzle is the Spike Trap Platform Puzzle. You must follow the symbol sequence across a series of platforms without stepping on the wrong symbol.
The sequence is: Dots > Squid > Dots > Flower > Squid
You need to continue following this pattern across the platforms. The tricky section requires you to briefly move backward before continuing the sequence.
Use the Sphere Key's three-light mode to align the red, blue, and green beams with the corresponding colored dots around the gates. You will also need to use reflectors, levers, and the Sphere Key's alternate mode to cross the spike-trap sections safely.
Direct each colored beam onto its matching medallion. The red beam uses the right-side reflector, the blue beam requires multiple reflectors around the central platform, and the green beam uses the back-right reflector.
The Sphere Key is used to activate sockets, align colored light beams, reveal hidden symbols or paths, and interact with several mechanisms throughout the puzzles.
Once you have obtained all four required symbols, enter them into their corresponding sockets in the main puzzle area. This unlocks the latches blocking the giant gate and allows you to continue through Desolation It Wrought.
