Do you have Google Play balance you gained from the Google Opinion Rewards app? If you want to spend them before they expire, here are the available products and services you can buy or subscribe to.

To check your Play balance, open the Google Play Store and tap your profile picture in the top-right corner. Then, go to Payments and subscriptions> Payment methods. If your balance is less than the product price, you can’t use it. Google Play requires you to pay the full amount with your balance or top it up to cover the cost.

You can purchase Google Play gift card through the Google Pay app and redeem it in the Play Store. After that, here are the ways to spend your Google Play Balance.

Note: These ways only work on Android. On iPhone, you’ll need to transfer your Play balance to PayPal (check below).

1. Buy Apps and Games on Google Play Store

Use your Google Play balance to buy paid apps or games from the Google Play Store. To find paid apps or games, open the Google Play Store, go to the Top Charts tab and filter by Top paid. This section features the best-paid apps to spend your Google Play balance.

Select the Google Play balance as the payment while purchasing any paid app or game on the Play Store.

2. Make In-App Purchases

Some apps require additional payments after installation, such as for pro versions or in-game items. You can use your Play balance for in-app purchases if that app or game uses Google Play’s payment method. However, you cannot use your Play balance if the app or game uses its own or a third-party payment method.

On the in-app purchase page, if you see if the app or game is using the Google Play payment method, then select the Google Play balance to complete the payment.

Note: some apps only allow you to use Google Play balance to purchase but not to subscribe.

3. Get a Google Play Pass Subscription

Google offers Play Pass, a subscription service that bundles many paid apps and premium subscriptions for a monthly fee of $4.99. Instead of buying individual apps, use your Play balance to subscribe to Play Pass.

Tap on the profile picture in the top-right corner of the Play Store and select the Play Pass option. Select your plan and continue the payment by selecting Google Play balance.

4. Buy or Rent Movies From Google TV

If you have a favorite movie you want to watch multiple times, use your Play balance to buy it from the Google TV app. Once you buy a movie, it is linked to your account permanently, even after your streaming subscriptions expire.

Search for the movie you want to buy in the Google TV app. If you can’t buy the movie you’re looking for, try another one or open the Shop tab to see all the movies available for purchase. Select the Buy or Rent option, choose your preferred quality, and complete the payment using your Google Play balance.

5. Buy eBooks and Audiobooks From Google Play Books

You can also use your Play balance to buy ebooks or audiobooks through the Google Play Books app. You can access those books on Android, iPhone, iPad, or even your laptop through the Play Books Library on the Google Play Store website.

Search for the book or audiobook on the Google Play Books app. Then buy it with your Google Play balance.

6. Subscribe to News Source on News Stand

Want to read your favorite newspaper? Subscribe through the Google News app for digital version using your Google Play Balance or Google Opinion Rewards credits.

Open the Google News app, and tap on the Newsstand tab in the bottom bar. In the payment process, select the Google Play balance option to subscribe to the News source.

7. Get a YouTube Premium Subscription or Pre-Paid Plan

You can use your Play balance to subscribe to YouTube Premium, which offers ad-free YouTube, YouTube Music, background play, and high-quality video. You can either get a subscription or buy a pre-paid plan for a specific number of months according to your needs.

Tap on the profile icon on the YouTube app and select Get YouTube Premium option. Choose whether you need an individual plan or a family plan. Then select either the pre-paid plan or the subscription plan. Finally, complete the payment by selecting the Google Play balance option.

8. Get a YouTube Music Subscription or Pre-Paid plan

If you only want the ad-free YouTube Music experience, you can subscribe to YouTube Music separately. Open the YouTube Music app and tap the Upgrade tab. Select the Individual or Family plan, then the pre-paid plan or subscription. Complete the payment by selecting Google Play balance.

9. Tip YouTube Streamers

When you watch live on YouTube, YouTube provides the option to send a super chat or super sticker as a tip to the streamer. You can use your Play balance to send the tip.

On the live, tap on the money icon beside the live chat box, and select the Super chat or Super sticker option. Select the amount you want to transfer for the Super chat or select the Super sticker. Finally, complete the payment by selecting Play balance.

10. Join Channel Membership on YouTube

Some channels have a membership program for a specific price that provides exclusive content or early access. You can subscribe to the membership with the Play balance.

If a channel has a membership program, you’ll find a Join button next to the Subscribe button. Click on it to check the price and complete the payment with the Play balance to join.

11. Get a YouTube TV Subscription

YouTube TV is a cable TV replacement available only in the US to watch Live TV. To subscribe, open the YouTube TV app and tap your profile picture. Go to Settings and select Membership. Choose your desired plan and add any additional channels or features. Finally, check out and use your Google Play balance to complete the payment.

12. Get a Google One Subscription

Google One offers cloud storage for Google Drive and Google Photos. It also offers other features like advanced Google Photos editing, VPN, Google Gemini Advanced, etc.

To subscribe, tap the menu icon in the Google One app and select Membership Plans. Choose your desired plan (monthly or yearly) and use your Google Play balance to complete the subscription.

For iPhone: Transfer to PayPal

Opinion Rewards app is also available on iPhone in the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom. However, none of the above options work on iPhone to use your Play balance. Instead, your Play balance will be transferred to your PayPal account automatically every time you reach $2.

Just log in to the Opinion Rewards app with the same email address you use for your PayPal account. When your balance reaches $2, the amount will be transferred automatically.

You cannot transfer your Opinion Rewards balance between Android and iPhone. Each operating system has separate rewards (Play Credit on Android and PayPal on iOS). Even if you use the same Opinion Rewards account on both, they maintain separate balances. You cannot cash out your Android account’s balance to PayPal.
