Here is how to get the Hammyshork Rod in Fisch. You earn it from the Hammi NPC, who is hidden inside the Shark Sanctuary. The hard part is not the quest itself, it is getting into the sanctuary and then catching 13 different sharks. This guide covers how to enter, which sharks to catch, the rod’s stats and whether the grind is worth it.
How to Enter the Shark Sanctuary
You cannot walk into the Shark Sanctuary like a normal location. You have to rescue a shark first.
- Look for the exclusive Shark Pools in Castaway Cliffs and The Arch. They show up as large, dark pink areas on the water.
- Dive to the bottom of one of these pools and find the injured shark. Interact with it to rescue it.
- Go to the cave at the bottom of the ocean behind The Arch, at GPS (1292.2, 23.6, -1711.4).
- Enter the cave and you will reach the Shark Sanctuary. Hammi is in the middle and takes in the shark you rescued.
Once Hammi has your shark, the quest begins.

Hammi’s Quest: Emergency Recruiting
The first quest asks you to catch 13 different types of shark. Here is where to find each one and what to use:
| Shark | Rarity | Location | Bait | Weather | Season | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cookiecutter Shark | Rare | The Ocean | Bagel | Clear or Foggy | Summer or Spring | Night |
| Gemstone Whale Shark | Mythical | Treasure Island | Sapphire Krill | Any | Any | Any |
| Ginsu Shark | Legendary | Ancient Isle | Fish Head | Any | Summer | Night |
| Great Goldcursed Shark | Secret | Castaway Cliffs | Fish Head | Foggy | Autumn | Night |
| Great Hammerhead Shark | Mythical | The Ocean (Shark Hunt) | Fish Head | Windy | Spring | Day |
| Great White Shark | Mythical | The Ocean (Shark Hunt) | Fish Head | Windy | Autumn | Day |
| Icebeard Shark | Mythical | Northern Expedition (Glacial Grotto) | Truffle Worm | Any | Winter | Night |
| Maelstorm Shark | Legendary | Atlantean Storm | Truffle Worm | Foggy | Autumn | Any |
| Megamouth Shark | Mythical | The Ocean | Krill | Any | Summer | Night |
| Mutated Shark | Mythical | The Depths | Fish Head | Any | Winter | Night |
| Nurse Shark | Unusual | The Ocean | Minnow | Any | Summer or Autumn | Night |
| Umbral Shark | Legendary | Keepers Altar | Fish Head | Clear | Winter | Night |
| Whale Shark | Mythical | The Ocean | Shrimp | Clear | Summer or Autumn | Day |
Some of these are easy and some are not. The Nurse Shark and Cookiecutter Shark are the more common ones. The Great Goldcursed Shark is Secret rarity and needs the right weather, season and time all at once, so it is likely to take the longest. Since many sharks need a different season, you may have to switch seasons during the grind, so plan which sharks you can catch together.
When you finish the quest, the Hammyshork Rod unlocks. Equip it from your Equipment Bag.

Is the Hammyshork Rod Worth It?
It depends on how you play, but for most players it is a good rod to have rather than a must-have one.
Reasons to get it:
- No weight limit. Infinite max weight means no fish is too heavy for it, which matters when you chase very large catches like sharks.
- Shark Hunt bonus. The +15 Hunt Focus is aimed at Shark Hunts, so it helps most if you plan to keep hunting sharks after the quest.
- Decent control. At 0.15, the reeling bar is easier to keep on a fish than on rods with low control.
- It is free. You pay with time and bait, not Robux or in-game currency.
Reasons to skip it:
- Luck is only fair. 170% is useful but not high, so it is not the rod you would pick for chasing rare mutations in general.
- Lure speed is on the slow side. At 70%, fish take a bit longer to bite.
- Low resilience. At 15%, it does not do much to slow hard-fighting fish.
- The grind is real. Catching 13 sharks, including a Secret one that needs very specific conditions, takes a while.
Our verdict: If you enjoy Shark Hunts or are already catching sharks for the bestiary, the Hammyshork Rod is worth the effort, and most of the sharks you catch along the way count towards other goals anyway. If you only care about the highest luck or fastest lure speed, you can leave it for later, because other rods suit those goals better. It also helps to know what the rod does beyond its stats, so if you have tried its different modes, tell us what you saw and we will add it.
