How to Change Outfit in Phantom Blade Zero
Open the map screen, go to the Character tab, and switch to Appearance. You can change outfits at any time, and you can also show or hide the headgear on every outfit from the same menu.
Outfits You Have From the Start
You do not need to do anything for the first two. Black Scarf (Fugitive) is what Soul wears when you begin, and Sanguine is an alternate look that is already unlocked. Sanguine is a lighter travelling outfit, and it leaves a streak of dark red behind you when you use Ghoststep, which makes it a good pick if you like a bit of flair in your movement.
Outfits Unlocked by Finishing the Game
The Hunt and Kindred both unlock when you get any ending, so you will have them after your first playthrough, whichever ending you reach. They are the easiest outfits to earn, and a good reason to start a second run.
Outfits Tied to the Secret Perfect Ending
Two outfits depend on the secret Perfect ending, and it matters which of them you get.
- Blizzard unlocks if you complete all the requirements for the Perfect ending but do not complete all of the Long Pillar challenges.
- Legacy is the other Perfect ending outfit, and you can also get it by pre-ordering. It has no armor at all, just a plain, calm look for a swordsman who has settled his doubts.
Pre-Order and Deluxe Edition Outfits
Phantom Blade Zero pre-order bonus gives you Legacy, so players who pre-ordered already have it. If you did not, you can still earn it through the Perfect ending.
The Deluxe Edition is the only way to buy Blood-Steel Form and Wulin Legend. Blood-Steel Form is a heavy plate set tinted a deep crimson, and Wulin Legend is a wandering swordsman look. Neither can be unlocked in-game, so the Deluxe Edition is the one thing to decide on if you want every outfit.
Because outfits are cosmetic, you can pick by looks alone. Most of them come from playing through the game, and only the Deluxe pair needs to be purchased. If you also want to know what to equip with your outfit, we have guides on all accessories and medicines in Phantom Blade Zero.
