On Discord, anyone above 13 can create an account. While Discord blocks NSFW servers and channels for teen accounts (13 – 18 years of age), it is up to parents to crosscheck the servers their child is joining and the people they interact with. One way to do that is parental control. Here’s how you can set up parental controls for your teen on Discord and what you can and cannot access. Let’s get started.

What Data You Can Access as a Parent
With Discord parental controls, as a parent account, you can add up to 8 teen accounts under your account and monitor them. To add any account as a teen account, their age has to be less than 18 years of age. Once the teen account holder reaches 18, you will lose access to the account and data.
That being said, here’s the data you can access from your teen account. Note that on Discord, the child account is called the teen account.
1. You can see recently added friends of your teen’s account including how many were added and their names. But, you cannot check the entire friend list.
2. You can also access users your child is in contact with via DMs. You can see users your child messaged and has been on a call with. But, it will not show the users who messaged or tried calling your child.
Note: You can only check who messaged, but you cannot actually read any messages with the help of Discord parental controls.
3. You can also view servers your child recently joined. Just like friends list, you cannot access all the servers your child is part of but only the recently joined servers.
4. Finally, you can check the servers your child actively interacts with. There is even a list of active servers that you can access but it updates as more interactions happen.
‘Recently’ is normally considered as the last 1-2 weeks on Discord. So in case, you want to check all the friends your child is interacting with and all the servers your child is joining, then it’s better to check the data at least once a week.
