CD Projekt Red dropped one of the most pleasant surprises of Gamescom Opening Night Live. They announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and made it a completely free upgrade for every existing owner on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The upgrade lands on September 29, and if you already own the base game, you will get three things at absolutely no cost. Here is the full breakdown of all 3 freebies Witcher 3: Wild Hunt owners are getting.

1. The Witcher 3 Remastered Upgrade

The headline freebie is the Remastered upgrade itself. Every existing owner of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S receives the full Remastered version automatically at no additional charge on September 29. CD Projekt Red confirmed a list of additional features coming with the Remastered version at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

2. Hearts of Stone Expansion (Free)

Anyone who owns the base game and did not previously own Hearts of Stone will now receive it completely free as part of the Remastered upgrade. Hearts of Stone is the first of The Witcher 3's two major expansions and is widely considered one of the best pieces of story DLC ever released adding a substantial new questline, memorable characters, and some of the finest writing in the entire game. If you somehow never played it this is your moment.

3. Blood and Wine Expansion (Free)

Blood and Wine, the second and larger of The Witcher 3's two expansions, is also included completely free for all base game owners. Blood and Wine is effectively a full game in its own right, set in the sun-drenched region of Toussaint, introducing an entirely new map, new characters, and a storyline that serves as a proper conclusion to Geralt's arc. It is arguably the best expansion CD Projekt Red has ever made, and getting it free alongside the Remastered upgrade is an extraordinary amount of value for existing owners.

All three of these freebies are separate from Songs of the Past, the upcoming third expansion for The Witcher 3, which is currently scheduled for 2027. Songs of the Past will be a new paid expansion and is not included in the free Remastered upgrade.
