Instagram has made stories more engaging by introducing the Add Yours feature. Until now, stories were grouped by hashtags that are difficult to find. Now, they will be grouped by the Add Yours sticker. What is the Add Yours sticker on Instagram Stories and how to use it like a pro? Find the answer here.
1. What Is Add Yours Sticker
Add Yours is a new interactive sticker for Instagram stories that allows users to create a chain of stories. When a user places this sticker on their story, others can add their own content to the sticker, resulting in a virtual thread or a collaborative album of stories. It can be used to kickstart trends, challenges, campaigns, and ideas of similar nature.
Suppose user A uploads a story having a photo or video of their favorite place and puts the Add Yours sticker with a “Favorite place” title. When user B views the story, he/she will see the Add Yours button on the story prompting them to add their own photo or video to the thread. If they create a story using the same sticker, it will be added to the chain of stories for the same title. Similarly, when the followers of B will see the story, they can add their own story and the public thread or chain will continue to grow.
In a nutshell, the Add Yours sticker turns Instagram Stories into threads where everyone can contribute with their own content matching the sticker title or label.
2. How to Use Add Yours Sticker
You can either add photos to existing threads of Add Yours sticker or create your own thread.
How to Add Photo to Existing Thread

The picture will be added in the background with the Add Yours sticker on top of it. Upload it to your story or share it with your Close Friends, just like you would publish regular stories.
Tip: You can resize, rotate, or move the sticker by using gestures.
How to Create Your Own Add Yours Chain
If you want to be creative, you can start your own thread. To do that, follow these steps:

2. On the Preview and edit screen, tap on the Stickers icon at the top and choose Add Yours from the list.
3. Type a title, prompt, or label (whatever you want to call it) in the Write a prompt field. If you don’t have any ideas, press the Dice icon present below the sticker to get random title ideas. Finally, press the Done button.
4. Post the story.
3. How to See Other People’s Add Yours Stories
When you see an Add Yours sticker on a story, tap on the sticker title or prompt to see other people’s stories in the same album. Similarly, if you want to see stories from people who created them using your Add Yours sticker, open your story and tap on the sticker title. That will show the currently live stories in the thread.
4. How to Know Who Started the Thread
You can easily find the creator of the Instagram chain story. For that, tap on the Add Yours sticker title in a story. You will see the creator’s name on the screen that appears. Tap on the name to view their profile.
5. How to Hide Started by Credit Name
If you are the creator of an Add Yours chain, you can choose to hide your name from showing up next to the Started by label. For that, open your story and tap on the Add Yours sticker. Tap on the three-dot icon and choose Hide started by Credit.
Tip: Use the same menu to turn off response notifications for the sticker.
6. What Happens to the Add Yours Sticker After 24 Hours
It’s not surprising that stories only last 24 hours. So, what happens to the thread after that? Your original story will be removed from the thread, and similarly, stories added by other users will be removed 24 hours after they were posted. The sticker, on the other hand, will remain active as long as users continue to add to it.

If you don’t want to lose the Add Yours story, you should add it to your Instagram Highlights. It won’t show the old stories added to it but you can start a new thread using the same story in the future.

Yes. The Add Yours sticker titles don’t have to be unique. You will find multiple stickers with the same or similar titles. However, try to use uncommon and intriguing titles for better results.
9. Who Can See Stories Added to Add Yours Thread
Here’s how the privacy of this sticker works:
- If you have a public account, the stories added to the thread are also public. That is, anyone who opens the thread, in addition to your followers, can view your story.
- If you have a private Instagram account, you can participate in Add Yours sticker but only your followers will see your story and it will not appear in the main thread.
- Stories shared with Close Friends will be visible to them only.
10. How to Find Add Yours Stories on Instagram
Currently, there is no search feature to find such stories. However, if you type Add Yours in an Instagram search, several profiles will load with the same or similar names. Tap on one of them and check their Highlights. You will find many Add Yours sticker ideas.
Fix: Instagram Add Yours Sticker Not Working
If you don’t have access to the Add Yours sticker or are unable to click on the sticker in stories, it means your profile doesn’t have the feature yet.
To get the feature for your Instagram profile, start by updating the Instagram app. Once you do that, restart the phone. If the Add Yours sticker still doesn’t show up, log out from the app. You can also try logging in on a different device.
What worked for me was changing my Instagram password. I had forgotten my Instagram account’s password which made me change it. After logging in with the new password, the Add Yours sticker appeared for my account.
The Add Yours sticker on Instagram Stories is an interesting way to gain followers and showcase your creative talent to others. However, be careful, especially if you have a public account. As I mentioned above, anyone can view your story, so refrain from adding personal pictures or videos.
