In Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, you can collect Sprites and extract them to add to your collection. Howwever, exctracting Sprites isn't always easy, especially when other players are competing for the same rewards. That's where Extraction Gizmos come in. This guide covers everything you need to know about how Extraction Gizmos work in Fortnite and how to get the most value out of them.
What Are Extraction Gizmos In Fortnite?
Extraction Gizmos are useful tools designed to make the extraction process safer and more efficient. These are consumable items that cannot be traded, and they load into your Pickaxe slot the moment you leave the Battle Bus. Basically, they give you more flexibility when it comes to extracting Sprites during a match.
Traditionally, you'll need to carry a Sprite across the map and reach a Sprite Extraction point to add it to your collection. However, with Extraction Gizmos, you won't have to go through nearly as much trouble.
Your Gizmo inventory also carries over between matches for the whole season, so you never lose progress. If you do get eliminated, your Gizmos drop to the ground but are not permanently lost. They wil be back with you next match.
All Extraction Gizmos in Fortnite
There are three Extraction Gizmos in total, though only one is available right now:

How to Use the Portable Extractor
Before anything else, check your keybindings. On PC, there is no default key set for the Gizmos, so you'll need to assign one manually in your Settings. Once that's done, here's the full process:
- Pick up a Sprite that you find in regular chests, floor loot, or dedicated Sprite chests scattered around the map.
- Pull out your Pickaxe, then press the assigned Gizmo key on PC (Y/Triangle on consoles) to switch to the Portable Extractor.
- Activate it and hold still for 5 seconds while the extraction runs.
The process is simple, but there's one major thing to watch out for: Those 5 seconds leave you completely vulnerable. Before you pop the Portable Extractor, make sure no enemies are nearby. Getting downed mid-extraction is one of the most frustrating ways to lose progress, so always do a quick scan of your surroundings first.
How to Get More Extraction Gizmos
Since Extraction Gizmos are so powerful, Epic doesn't just leave them lying around in chests. You have to earn them through two main methods:
- Sprite Mastery Track: Reach level 2 and level 6 on the Sprite Mastery track to receive 4 Portable Extractors each time.
- Sprite Dust Services: Visit any Extraction Site and spend your Sprite Dust to buy more directly.
- Quest Rewards: Certain quests hand out a Portable Extractor as a reward, so keep an eye on your quest list.
- Daily Quest Bonus: Completing a fourth daily quest in a single day rewards you with a Portable Extractor on top of the usual XP.
