Gears of War: E-Day has two weapon types: primary and secondary. There are more than a dozen guns to try out, and they don't all perform the same in different situations. Here is our Gears of War: E-Day weapons tier list, ranking both primary and secondary loadouts.
Gears of War E-Day Weapons Tier List
This Gears of War E-Day tier list leans toward multiplayer performance, but I'll flag where weapons perform differently in Horde Siege. Some guns that feel weak in PvP are surprisingly pretty good in co-op, and the game plays differently enough between the two modes that it matters.
The game is still early in its life, and patches may shift things around. But based on everything available right now, here's where each weapon stands.
| Tier | Weapons |
|---|---|
| S Tier | Gnasher, Longshot, Incinerator |
| A Tier | Prototype Lancer, Hammerburst, Torque Bow, Gut-Puncher |
| B Tier | Lancer Mk1, Ripper, Snub, Breechshot |
| C Tier | Striga |
E-Day - S-Tier Weapons
| Weapon | Type | How to Unlock | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Gnasher | Shotgun | Act 1 Chapter 1: Emergence | • Part of your default loadout so you never lose access to it • Can one-shot enemies up close when you land your shots • One of the most important weapons for close-range fights • Works extremely well with movement and wall-bouncing |
![]() Longshot | Sniper Rifle | Act 2 Chapter 2: Hold the Line | • Can hip-fire, so you don't always need to aim down sights • A headshot can take out an enemy instantly at any range • Three body shots can also kill enemies pretty quickly • Takes practice to master, but great aim can make it extremely powerful |
![]() Incinerator | Imulsion Shotgun | Act 3 Chapter 1: Stranded | • Deals big burst damage when the shot hits • Leaves an Imulsion trail that keeps damaging enemies • Great for controlling areas and stopping enemies from pushing • Useful in both multiplayer and Horde Siege |
E-Day - A-Tier Weapons
| Weapon | Type | How to Unlock | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Prototype Lancer | Assault Rifle | Act 2 Chapter 2: Hold the Line | • Has a big magazine so you can keep firing without co • The chainsaw can instantly finish basic enemies at close range • Easy to use and reliable even if you're still getting used to the game |
![]() Hammerburst | Burst Assault Rifle | Act 1 Chapter 2: Survival of the Fittest | • Three-round burst is extremely controlled and accurate • Hip fire is effective at mid-range • Gives you a strong mid-range option when other weapons fall short • Currently tied to power weapon spawns in multiplayer instead of being available in your loadout |
![]() Torque Bow | Precision Bolt Launcher | Act 3 Chapter 5: Desperate Times | • Body shots give enemies a moment to react before the bolt explodes • Headshots instantly take enemies out with no delay • Shooting the ground can deal splash damage and force enemies out of cover • Takes practice, but landing good shots feels incredibly satisfying with this |
![]() Gut-Puncher | Grenade Launcher | Act 1 Chapter 4: Back in the Fold | • You can detonate grenades in mid-air to catch enemies at the perfect moment • Bouncing shots off walls makes it easy to hit enemies hiding around corners • Great for clearing groups and defending objectives in Horde Siege • Takes some skill to use, but good players can get a lot more out of it |
E-Day - B-Tier Weapons
| Weapon | Type | How to Unlock | Why It's B Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Lancer Mk1 | Assault Rifle | Act 1 Chapter 2: Survival of the Fittest | • Semi-auto and full-auto switching adds situational flexibility • High recoil hurts consistency at range more than it should • The Gnasher in your loadout already handles close range better • More useful in Horde Siege than in multiplayer where fights are decided fast |
![]() Ripper | Light Machine Gun | Act 3 Chapter 3: Last Foothold | • Gets faster the longer you hold the trigger, but it takes a moment to reach full speed • Once it gets going, the damage is very serious • Burns through ammo quickly, which can leave you empty at the worst time • Strong in Horde Siege, but much harder to use in multiplayer |
![]() Breechshot | Precision Rifle | Act 2 Chapter 1: Bravo Squad | • Headshots hit hard, but the slow fire rate makes them difficult to land • Four body shots to down an enemy can feel too slow during fast fights • Works better in Horde Siege, especially for players who like the Marksman role |
![]() Snub | Sidearm (Pistol) | Act 1 Chapter 1: Emergence | • One of the most accurate weapons in the game • A well-timed active reload can give its damage a nice boost • Can beat the Lancer Mk1 at range if you have good aim • It's still a pistol, so it's usually your backup when your main weapon runs dry |
E-Day - C Tier Weapons
| Weapon | Type | How to Unlock | Why It's C Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Striga | Sidearm | Act 3 Chapter 2: Enemy Lines | • Charge time before firing is far too long for how fast E-Day's combat moves • In most real encounters you'll be dead before the shot goes off • Decent damage per hit doesn't justify the exposure risk at all • A major charge time reduction would be needed to make this viable |
What About the Signature Weapons
There are four signature weapons in Gears of War: E-Day, but they are campaign-only and don't carry over into Horde Siege or multiplayer, so they don't factor into this tier list. During the campaign, they're fun to use, but they function the same as their standard versions mechanically.
| Weapon | Type | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
![]() Fenix's Signature Proto Lancer | Assault Rifle | Act 2 Chapter 2: Hold the Line |
![]() Carter's Signature Gut-Puncher | Grenade Launcher | Act 2 Chapter 2: Hold the Line |
![]() Reyes' Signature Longshot | Sniper Rifle | Act 2 Chapter 2: Hold the Line |
![]() Santiago's Signature Gnasher | Shotgun | Act 2 Chapter 2: Hold the Line |

This is the end of our Gears of War: E-Day weapons tier list. A lot of fan-favorite weapons from older Gears games are still missing from E-Day. Since the game is still being developed, there's a good chance some of these classic weapons could return through new maps or future updates. If they do, then we will update this tier list, too.
