How to Change Playlist Cover on Apple Music

You may want to change the cover of your new gym playlist with a photo of you working out to make it visually appealing and motivating. Maybe you didn’t like the default playlist album cover based on the album art of songs added to the playlist. Either way, in Apple Music, you can change the playlist cover with your photo. And with iOS 17.1, Apple Music suggests ready-made covers for your playlists as well. Here’s how to change the playlist cover on Apple Music.

Change Playlist Cover on iPhone

You can not only add any image to the playlist cover on Apple Music but with the new iOS17.1 update, you can also add new pre-designed covers to your playlist on iPhone. Here’s how to do that.

1. Open the playlist that you want to edit the cover photo for. Tap on the metaballs menu (three horizontal dots) and select Edit.

2. Now just swipe through the pre-designed cover options and stop at the cover you find perfect for the playlist. Then, simply tap Done on the top right to save it.

3. If you want to use a picture of your own, tap on the Camera icon and select one of the three options:

  • Take Photo: Capture the photo instantly and use that as your playlist cover.
  • Choose Photo: Select the image from your Photos app.
  • Choose File: If the image you want to add as a cover photo is saved on your Files app, select this option.

4. After selecting the photo, adjust the image and tap on Use Photo if you have taken a photo or Choose if you selected an existing image from your iPhone. Then tap on Done.

Note: Pre-designed playlist covers on Apple Music are released with iOS 17.1, So make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest version of the iOS.

Change Playlist Cover on Android

Apple Music on Android does not have the option to use pre-designed covers for playlists for now. However, you can still change the cover with any image available on your phone. Here’s how.

1. Open the playlist in the Apple Music app, tap on the kebab menu (three vertical dots), and select Edit Playlist.

2. Now tap on the Camera icon and select the option to add an image. You can either take a photo or choose a photo from your gallery.

3. Once selected, adjust the image and tap on the tick mark icon on the top left. Now you will get a preview of the playlist cover, tap on the tick mark icon on the top left to save it.

Change Playlist Cover on Mac

Apple Music on Mac didn’t get the ability to add pre-designed playlist covers like on iPhone but it offers several stock images to use as playlist covers.

1. In the playlist on your Apple Music, double-click on the album cover and select the option to add a cover photo.

2. Here, Defaults will let you add stock images, and selecting Other will give you the option to add any image available on your Mac. While Recents will show the history of your playlist cover.

3. To add any image from your Mac, click on Other, select the image, and then click on Open.

4. Once added you can adjust the image by zooming and dragging and if you find it perfect for your playlist cover, click on Done.

Change Playlist Cover on Windows

Just like Apple Music on Android, you only get the option to add images from your Windows PC for a playlist cover.

1. In the playlist, right-click anywhere on the blank space above the list of songs and select Add Custom Artwork.

2. Select any image from your computer and click on Open or double left-click on the selected image. The playlist cover will be replaced with your selected image.
