You might have already found Godzilla in Fortnite, but have you seen Kong in the Battle Royale? While the giant ape isn’t as easy to find as you might hope, this guide will help you understand exactly how to find Kong during matches in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1.
How to Find Kong in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1
Finding Kong in Fortnite requires a bit of luck and good timing. Kong only appears in matches where Godzilla is also scheduled to spawn. Godzilla has a 20% chance of appearing in any match, and when Godzilla does spawn, Kong has an additional 25% chance of appearing. This means Kong is quite rare to spot, as you need both conditions to line up.
Fortunately, I got the chance to spot him in a match. When you’re in the game, keep an eye on the horizon, especially near areas with tall structures or wide-open spaces. Kong tends to spawn around these spots, so it’s all about scanning the skyline and staying alert. When you’re in the Battle Bus and suddenly your screen shakes plus you hear any roaring, that’s your cue to look up and get ready to spot him. It’s like a game of hide-and-seek, but with a giant ape!

A rift portal will suddenly open in the sky, accompanied by red sparks. Kong will leap through this portal and make a dramatic entrance. However, Kong quickly jumps back through the portal after his brief appearance.

What Does Kong Appearance Mean?

Kong’s brief cameo might seem like just a cool moment, but it actually serves several important purposes. His appearance guarantees Godzilla will show up later in the match. Plus, when Kong is there, Red Monarch Supply Drops start raining down across the map, loaded with epic and legendary loot, such as rail guns, along with Shield Bubbles. So, while you’re looking at the giant ape, don’t forget also to grab those supplies, because you need them to defeat the Godzilla.
Additional Kong Content in Fortnite
While you can’t play as Kong during matches (unlike Godzilla), you can still show your appreciation for the mighty ape:
- Purchase the Kong skin from the Item Shop for 1,500 V-Bucks.
- Consider the bundle with Kong and MechaGodzilla for 2,800 V-Bucks if you want both.
- Check out the mysterious footprints on the eastern shore for a free 25,000 XP bonus.

Kong only shows up briefly for now, but future updates might give him a bigger role, we will never know with Epic Games and Fortnite. Spotting him takes patience since his appearance is linked to Godzilla’s spawn rate. Keep an eye on the sky during the Battle Bus phase, and you might catch the King of Skull Island making his entrance.
