Photoshop is definitely the king when it comes to photo editing software. However, it is a paid tool that requires a lot of system resources to work smoothly. If you prefer online image editing tools that are lighter and also don’t take any space on your hard drive, then we know a handful of online photo editing tools.
Now, let’s be honest, no online tool can ever beat Photoshop when it comes to features, but they are still good enough to take care of basic and a little advanced Image editing. So, without further ado, let’s check out some online photoshop alternatives.
Table of Contents
Free Online Image Editor Like Photoshop
1. FreeOnlinePhotoEditor
An astonishingly simply online image editing tool that is a complete no brainer but still offers reliable editing. FreeOnlinePhotoEditor is definitely not a powerhouse, but if you are new to editing and looking for a editor that would do everything for you; then this tool is for you. Most of the editing this tool makes only allows you to select the edit and the tool finds the best option to apply it. Of course this limits customization options, but it also makes it easier for less tech-savvy people to edit photos online.
It has all the required editing tools, such as red-eye removal, despeckle, saturation, crop, resize, rotate/flip, borders and a hand full of filters. It also supports dozens of effects that are also applied without any manual intervention from your side. After editing the photo, you can download it in your favorite format or directly share over social media networks.
2. LunaPic
I am personally using LunaPic for most image editing needs of my articles and it has never disappointed me. LunaPic actually offers a set of individual tools that may make it a little confusing to edit your images, but it is also the reason why it is so powerful. Each tool has separate options to further control how you want a specific effect or tool to work. And there are numerous drawing tools, filters, borders, effects, art and even animations.
You can flip, blur, sharpen, dehaze, adjust focus, contrast, exposure, smooth skin, remove red eye, add captions, draw, add speech bubbles, blend images, create sketch, cartoon yourself, implode or explode images, add masks and use hundreds of other tools to make your photo out of this world. As I said before, each of these tools or function works individually and all of them have further options to ensure you make the edit perfectly.
3. Photoshop Express Editor
What’s better online alternative to Photoshop than Adobe’s own online Photoshop Express Editor? Well don’t get your hopes too high, this online photo editing tool by Adobe isn’t nearly as powerful as the actual Photoshop editor. However, it is still very powerful for an average user and offers tons of editing options in an easy to gulp interface. Go to Photoshop online tools page and click on the “Start the Editor” button below the Photoshop Express Editor.
Some of the editing tools includes, crop, resize, red-eye reduction, auto correct, white balance, dodge, burn, sharpen, touchup, focus and many effects like pixelate, crystalize and black & white. Apart from editing tools, you can also use many graphics to decorate your picture. The graphics include, party objects, animals, sports, costumes, text with adjustable color and style, expressions, sticky notes and more. All of the editing and decorating tools have further options to customize how you would like to apply them, such as control opacity, size, type, etc. Unfortunately, Photoshop Express Editor only works with JPG format, so you must upload images in JPG.
4. Sumopaint
Sumopaint is a popular editing tool that is very easy to use and offer reliable tools. It offers a bunch of handy tools in the left sidebar, such as text, brush, curve tool, blur, sharpen, smudge, color picker, magic wand and other useful tools that most image editors offer. You can access more editing tools from the above menu including, duplicate, canvas manager, rotate, crop, feather, pixel selector, layers with different effects, balance color, desaturate, negative and more.
It also supports tons of handy filters that are definitely worth checking out, some of the popular ones include 3D effect, Blur, Distort, Noise, Pixelate and some other cool ones. I really liked Sumopaint for its simple design and easy to apply effects.
5. Pixlr Editor
Pixlr offers the most comprehensive set of web-based and downloadable image editing apps to make all types of edits. Although, Pixlr also offers Pixlr Express and Pixlr O Matic for fun editing, but we are going to talk about Pixlr Editor that is comparable to Photoshop. Pixlr Editor offers everything you need to edit your photos. Like other editors, it has a list of commonly used tools on the left, including tools such as heal, burn, gradient, smudge, sharpen, blur, color replacement, drawing tool, red eye reduction and other commonly used tools.
It has a plethora of editing tools that can be accessed from the above menus, including filters, effects, adjustment tools and layers. Some of the things you can do with these tools include, rotate/flip an image, balance color, control brightness, manage curves, denoise images and add filters such as diffuse, water swirl, vignette and more.
Wrapping Up
LunaPic is my favorite tool in this list as it offers more customization options. Although it does require some time getting used to, but once you know what to do; things get smooth. I must say Pixlr Editor is a great tool with some awesome editing features, but I found it to be a little laggy as well. Which one of these tools you like? Do share with us in the comments.
