You can carry up to 30 Candies at a time. As a Beast, you can easily store up to 30 Candies because you play the offensive role. However, playing as a Survivor is a little different. If a Beast successfully freezes you, you'll lose all Candies permanently. You can retain Candies if someone rescues you.
