While the Android 14 update has been underwhelming from Google, Samsung has jam-packed the Android 14-based One UI 6 software with many hidden features. One such add-on is Studio, which is a part of the default Gallery app. You can create stunning videos and mesmerizing short movies with Studio on your Samsung phone. Here’s a detailed guide on using Studio on Galaxy phones.

Note: Studio add-on is available on One UI 6-running Samsung phones only. The latest software is accessible in the beta program in selected regions only.

What Is Studio on Galaxy Phones

The default Gallery app on Samsung Galaxy phones is already feature-rich. It comes with dozens of photo and video editing tools to tweak your media files like a pro. Following the One UI 6 update, Samsung has added a Studio add-on to create short videos or movies out of your existing library.

You can add stickers, music, tweak the video aspect ratio, and play with dozens of options to create a trendy movie on the go. Although it’s available on all Samsung devices running One UI 6, the entire movie-making experience is most suitable on Galaxy phones and tablets with S Pen support. A stylus offers precise content over the video timeline and an error-free editing setup.

Although it’s the first version of Studio, Samsung has left no stone unturned and packed it with useful features. You can either access Studio from the Gallery app or add it as a shortcut on the home screen or the app drawer.

How to Add Studio App Shortcut in App Drawer

If you frequently use Studio to make quick movies, add it as a shortcut in the app drawer or the home screen. Here’s how.

1. Open Gallery and click the More menu at the bottom.

2. Tap Go to Studio.

3. Tap the three-dot menu at the top and go to Settings.

4. Enable the Show Studio on Apps screen toggle.

You can now access Studio with a single swipe from the home screen.

How to Create a New Movie Project in Samsung Studio

Now that you have a clear idea of Studio and its features, let’s check it in action and create some videos to impress your friends and followers.

1. Open Studio on your phone.

2. Tap Start new project at the bottom.

3. Select photos and videos from the following menu. You can select up to 60 media files for your single project. Hit Done at the top.

4. By default, it uses the portrait mode (9:16 aspect ratio) for your movie. You can tap on the three-dot menu at the top and open Project settings to change the aspect ratio.

If you plan to share a short movie as a Reel or Story on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, stick with the vertical setup. On the flip side, if you want to view your videos on a giant TV or projector, change it to 16:9 for an ideal streaming experience.

Once you select photos and videos for your movie, Studio presents several add-ons to create the perfect movie.

Add Text

You can add text to any video frame in your movie. You can tap the T icon at the bottom and enter text. You can change the text color, style, position, and size using the left sidebar. Your text remains on the specific photo or video only. Studio doesn’t apply the same to the entire movie.

Apply Stickers

This is another neat add-on from Samsung. You can tap the stickers icon and check dozens of sticker packs to choose from. You can also download more stickers from the Galaxy Store.

The default sticker collection is quite diverse, and you can easily find the sticker you are looking for.

Add Blank Clip

Do you want to add a blank frame to your movie? It can be handy to use it as a ‘Thank You’ message or for another purchase in your movie. When you are in the editing interface, tap the + icon and select Blank clip. You can add an image or video from the same menu.

Dazzle Your Movie With Audio Tracks

Your movie is lifeless without a relevant audio track in it. You can tap the music icon at the bottom and tap Soundtracks. Samsung offers dozens of music tracks to choose from. You can also select a track from your Samsung phone.

Unfortunately, there is no way to add a track from Spotify, YouTube Music, or Amazon Music. Considering Samsung’s close partnership with Spotify, we would have loved to see Spotify integration in Studio.

Share Movies With Others

Once you are done with all the editing options, hit Done at the top. You can check the movie’s size, name, duration, and other details. Tap the three-dot menu and share your creation with others.

Create Stunning Memories in No Time

While there are several short movie-making tools in the Play Store, Samsung’s take with Studio has been commendable and should be good enough for starters. What are you waiting for? Create trendy short clips from your vacation photos and share them on social media.
