Export Kindle Notes and Highlights Using a PC or Mac
You can connect your Kindle (regular, Paperwhite, or Oasis) to your Mac or PC to extract the Notes and Highlights directly. Here’s how you can do that:
1. Connect your Kindle to a Windows 11 PC or Mac.
2. Use the File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) to open the Kindle’s storage.
3. Open the documents folder and copy the My Clippings.txt file from the Kindle storage to your Windows 11 or Mac.
The only difficult part is the My Clippings.txt file contains all the notes and highlights in the text form with details of the book and the time of the screenshot.
Export Kindle Notes and Highlights Using Email
Kindle ebook reader models offer quite an intuitive interface to mark notes and highlights in the books and documents you read. But when you want to view those highlights on a bigger screen, you’ll need to export them from Kindle. Unfortunately, you can’t see all your highlights under one menu or settings. That means, you can share notes highlights from each book individually and that’s quite tedious on a Kindle.
Here are the steps to export highlights from Kindle:
1. Open the book or document on your Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite,or Kindle Oasis model from where you want to share the notes and highlights.
2. Tap at the top of the screen to reveal a toolbar.
3. On the toolbar, tap on the notebook (binder) icon to view the Notes and Highlights for the book.
4. Tap the Share icon in the top-righer corner of the Notes and Highlights view.
5. On the Export Notes pop-up, tap on Send.
After that Amazon will send all those Notes and Highlights to your kindle.com email address. All those Notes and Highlights appear in a file called Your Clippings on your Kindle.
Note that some books will limit the number of Notes and Highlights you can export from a book.
Export Kindle Notes and Highlights From the Kindle Website
Amazon has a dedicated Kindle for Web to view and export your Notes and Highlights from your Kindle. You’ll need to use your Amazon account details if you’re using it for the first time.
1. Open the Kindle for Web site in a browser tab. You might need to sign in with your Amazon account details.

2. Click the Notes and Highlights section from the left sidebar.
3. That’ll open your Notebook containing Notes & Highlights in a new browser tab. From the left sidebar, you can scroll or search for a specific book. On the right pane, you’ll find the relevant highlight and you can click on Options to delete or add a note to it.
