All the Firestick Remote Shortcuts You Should Know About

by Kaushal

The Fire TV Stick is smarter than your average twig and you can install apps, play games, or even mirror your computer screen on it. The Firestick remote is full of surprises too, for instance, there are a few hidden key combinations that let you unlock hidden features. Let’s check those out.

1. Adjust the Display Resolution

Even though the Firestick detects the resolution automatically, you can change the resolution manually as well. Simply press and hold the UP Navigation + REWIND on the Firestick remote for ten seconds and the display will show the current resolution. Firestick will cycle between all the available resolutions and you can set a resolution of your choice by pressing the Select button on the remote.

2. Reset your Firestick Remote

I use multiple Firesticks and one of the most annoying things about it is that you can’t use one remote with multiple devices. Instead of navigating through the system menu to unpair the remote and then pair it with another device, you can simply hard reset it by pressing and holding the BACK + MENU + LEFT Navigation button for 15 seconds. This will reset the remote and you can then proceed to pair it with another Firestick.

3. Reset your Firestick

If you ever want to reset your FireStick, you can initiate by pressing and holding the BACK + RIGHT Navigation key for ten seconds on your Firestick remote.

4. Connect Remote to the Firestick

The Firestick would automatically detect a remote if it is nearby but if it doesn’t show up, you can always go the manual way. Press and hold the SELECT button for ten seconds and it should pop right up.

5. Restart your Firestick

If your Firestick stops responding and you wish to restart it but are too lazy to get up then this trick will certainly come in handy. You can press and hold the SELECT + PLAY button for 10 seconds to initiate a forced restart.

6. Open the System Menu

This is one of the most frequently used features that I discovered accidentally. Long pressing the HOME button on the remote opens the Quick Settings where you can access Mirroring option, Settings, or even put your Firestick to sleep. It’s really convenient.
