The Plundarrgh Sprite in Fortnite is a Mythic Sprite from the Treasure Hunters mini-season. Every time you open a chest, it gives you a short boost to your pickaxe speed and movement speed. You can get it from chests, buried Sprite Chests and Wanted Posters, but it is very rare. This guide covers what it does, how to get it, how rare it is and whether it is worth using.
Plundarrgh Sprite Variants and What They Do
| Variant | Rarity | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
![]() Plundarrgh | Mythic | Opening a chest gives a temporary boost to pickaxe speed and movement speed |
![]() Fortune Plundarrgh | Special | Keeps the base effect and also shows nearby chests |
![]() Cursed Plundarrgh | Special (coming November 12) | Raises your chances of finding rare variants, but water deals damage to you |
The base Sprite is made for fast looting. You open a chest, speed up, and move on to the next one. Like other Sprites, it gets stronger as you level it.
How to Get the Plundarrgh Sprite
There is no fixed spot for it. These are the ways to find it:
- Search treasure chests: Open chests during a match, and a Sprite may drop. Plundarrgh is one of the possible ones.
- Use the Lucky Locator: It points you to a buried Sprite Chest. You earn Lucky Locators through Sprite Mastery rewards.
- Complete Wanted Posters: Interact with a poster to get a Treasure Map, follow it to the red X and dig up the chest with your pickaxe.
Wanted Posters are the easiest source to plan around. Cursed Cavern and Loguetown have the most of them, so head there if you want a map quickly.
How Rare Is the Plundarrgh Sprite?
Very rare. The drop chance is between 0.495% and 0.005%, depending on the variant. The top of that range is already under half a percent, and the lowest number is tiny. Do not expect to get it in a single match. The best way to improve your odds is to use all three sources in the same match instead of relying on one.

Is the Plundarrgh Sprite Worth Using?
Honestly, it is not the best Sprite in the mini-season. The speed boost is useful early on, when you are opening a lot of chests and moving around the map. In the late game, there are far fewer chests to open, so it does very little. The final circles are about fighting and positioning, and a pickaxe speed boost does not help with either.
If you get it, use it in the first half of the match to loot faster, then think about swapping to something else for the end. If you want a Sprite that helps in fights, there are better choices. The Fortune version is easier to justify than the base one, because the chest radar still helps when you are looking for loot. It is also a Mythic, so it is a good Sprite to collect if you want a full set, even if it is not one you will run every match.
