Lost Your Samsung Galaxy Buds? How to Find Them Quickly

Samsung Galaxy Buds are compact and easy to carry. However, their small size also makes them easy to misplace. If you’ve lost your Samsung Galaxy Buds, don’t worry – you don’t have to search the entire house to find them. Samsung has built-in tools to help you track them down quickly and easily. Here’s how.

Before You Begin

Before you begin searching for lost Galaxy Buds, it is important to note what phone you use and how you paired your buds. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Paired with the Galaxy Wearable App:

You must set up Galaxy Buds in the Wearable app to use all their features. If you’ve done this, you can easily ring the buds to find them. With a Samsung phone, you can locate them or check their last known location.
  • Paired Directly via Bluetooth:

If you have paired your Galaxy Buds directly via Bluetooth, you won’t be able to find them. They’ll function like any other Bluetooth audio device. But we still have a way out for you, keep reading.

How to Find Galaxy Buds If They’re Still Connected

Use the Find My Earbuds feature to quickly ring and locate Samsung Galaxy Buds in your home, office, or wherever you might be. The steps vary slightly for Samsung and non-Samsung phones. Here’s how:

On Samsung Galaxy Phones

1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.

2. Tap on Find My Earbuds. This should automatically open the SmartThings app.

3. Tap on Ring.

4. Choose Start > Play Sound. Your Galaxy Buds will start beeping and gradually get louder.

5. Once you’ve found them, tap Stop.

On Non-Samsung Phones

If you’re using your Galaxy Buds with a non-Samsung phone like a Google Pixel, here’s how to ring them:

1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone. Tap on Find My Earbuds.

2. Tap Start and then Play Sound.

3. Follow the beeping sound. If you’ve lost only one earbud, tap the speaker icon below it to mute the other.

4. Tap Stop after you find your Galaxy Buds.

Ring Your Buds Without the Galaxy Wearable App

Unfortunately, you cannot set up the Wearable app after you’ve lost your buds. However, if they’re still connected to your phone’s Bluetooth, try playing a loud, high-frequency sound to help you locate them.

For your safety, remove any earphones or earbuds before playing the sound.

What If Your Galaxy Buds Aren’t Connected

If your Galaxy Buds aren’t connected to your phone, either their battery died before you realized they were missing, they’re inside the case, or they’re simply out of range. In either case, you can use SmartThings Find on your Samsung phone to locate them.

SmartThings Find approximates the offline location of your buds based on where and when they were last connected to your phone. It supports all newer models like the Galaxy Buds Live, Buds Pro, Buds2, and Buds2 Pro. Here’s how to use it:

1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone.

2. Tap on Find My Earbuds. It will automatically open the SmartThings app on your phone.

3. Tap on Search nearby.

Your phone will search for both earbuds; move around in the location where you suspect you lost them. Your phone will automatically alert you when it finds them.

Unlike AirPods Pro Gen 2 which shows direction and approximate distance from your iPhone, Samsung shows you only the signal strength. A weaker signal means you’re farther away, while a stronger signal means they’re nearby, helping you pinpoint their location.

If you can’t find them, return to the SmartThings Find screen. Tap More and toggle on Notify me when it’s found. Your phone will automatically alert you when your Galaxy Buds are detected nearby.

Can You Find a Lost Galaxy Buds Case

While AirPods Pro Gen 2 cases include a U1 chip and speaker for active ringing and precise tracking, Galaxy Buds cases lack these features. Using SmartThings, you can only:

  • Find Galaxy Buds when they’re outside the case and have been recently connected to your phone.
  • Locate Galaxy Buds when they’re inside the case but with the lid open.
  • Get their last known Bluetooth connection location.

This leaves you helpless if you’ve lost only the case, or if the buds are inside the closed case.

Since the case is quite sizable, your best bet is to retrace your steps and carefully check the surrounding area. Use the Buds’ last known location as a starting point for your search.

Avoid Losing Your Galaxy Buds Again

Open the Galaxy Wearable app and tap on Find My Earbuds. Here, tap More. Toggle on Notify when left behind. This will alert you whenever you are a certain distance away from the Galaxy Buds2 Pro.

You can further add safe places to the feature, such as your home. You won’t receive a notification if you leave your Galaxy Buds in any of these places. To do so, tap Notify when left behind > Add a safe place and choose the location.

Finding a lost Galaxy Buds case or buds when they’re closed inside is nearly impossible with SmartThings Find. To prevent future losses, consider attaching a SmartTag to your Galaxy Buds case. Many Galaxy Buds cases even have dedicated compartments for the tracker, so be sure to check those out!
