WARDOGS – What is a FOB and Why You Need It

FOB is one of the first bits of jargon you'll hear shouted over comms in WARDOGS, and it's actually one of the most important things to know in the game. This guide covers what a FOB is in WARDOGS, where to plant one, the order you should build things in, and the small mistakes that get bases wiped early.

What Is FOB in WARDOGS

FOB stands for Forward Operating Base in WARDOGS. It is a portable home base your squad drops out in the field. On its own, it's just a console, but once it's down, that entire area becomes buildable for your squad. Basically, FOB is a main tactical hub for your team to build defenses, manage logistics, and control territory.

FOB Supply Types

Once your FOB is down, you'll see four supply categories when you open it. Here are the things you can do:

Fuel Supplies are the one to watch in the mid-to-late game. The drill runs on fuel, and the drill is what pulls the hot zone toward your FOB. That means more XP and cash for everyone nearby. So it's a massive advantage if you keep it running.

How to Deploy FOB in WARDOGS

To deploy an FOB, you first need the module, which you can buy for $2,500 at the Vendor at camp under the Items options. Once you have it, it sits on your hotbar. Pull it out and place it.

There are a few rules, though. You can't drop an FOB inside another FOB's radius, and you can't place one in your home base area. If you want to put it inside a building, that building needs to be tall enough to fit it.

The hammers (small, medium, and large) are what you use to build things on the FOB after it's placed, not to deploy it. The small hammer handles basic stuff, like sandbags, barriers, and barbed wire. The medium hammer adds gates, doors, and HESCO walls. The large hammer is the one that unlocks anti-air guns, mortars, and drill rigs.

The Best Spot To Deploy FOB in WARDOGS

The best spot for your team to deploy the FOB is at the Towers area in WARDOGS. They're one of the few structures in WARDOGS that can't be blown up, so any wall you build around a tower will stand even when the rest of the fight gets messy.

Churches are a close second. They're usually on higher ground, they're indestructible like towers, and they typically only have one or two roads feeding into them - it's a nightmare for an enemy to push into Churches.

You're also not limited to one FOB. Running a second smaller one outside the contested zone (make sure it is tucked somewhere hard to find) lets you lob mortars in without anyone tracing it back for a while. Just know that the logistics support for out-of-zone FOBs works differently, which I'll get into below.

One thing I'd stress to anyone: never place the console on a roof. A single decent mortar shot can destroy it, and getting supplies delivered up there is a headache for any pilot trying to help you.

What Are Crates vs Pallets for Your FOB

Your logistics player is going to be bringing supplies to your FOB in two ways:

Use your map before you run to a crate. Hover over the crate icon, and it shows you exactly what's inside. Same thing with the FOB icon. You can check your current supply levels from the map, which is useful for knowing what to prioritize in your next request.
