Picking the right class in AION 2 is a big decision, so we made this AION 2 classes tier list ranking all eight classes for PvE and Solo PvP based on real damage meter data. The meta is still fresh, but there’s already enough signal to make a good choice. One class is doing something nobody predicted, and at least one strong-looking pick is underperforming hard enough that a buff already feels overdue. Here is your complete AION 2 classes tier list.

What Do the Tiers Mean?

  • S Tier - Best-performing classes in the current meta. They are the strong picks that excel in their roles and offer major advantages in the right content.
  • A Tier - Very strong and reliable classes. Great choices that perform well but have some weaknesses compared to S-tier classes.
  • B Tier - They are average and more situational classes. They can still perform well, but usually need better gear, stronger execution, or specific situations to shine.
  • C Tier - The underperforming classes that have more noticeable weaknesses.

AION 2 PvE Tier List

PvE in AION 2 is all about clearing dungeons, defeating bosses, and helping your team survive tougher fights. Chanter, Templar, and Cleric lead the current rankings, but for different reasons, from high damage and party buffs to tanking and healing. If you prefer dealing damage, Ranger and Sorcerer are also solid picks, while Spiritmaster has more catching up to do.

S Tier PvE Classes

ClassRoleWeaponReasons
ChanterHealer/DamageStaff- Currently the #1 class on damage meters. Pretty unusual for a hybrid that also buffs and off-heals.
Deals melee DPS, applies party-wide buffs, and covers emergency healing all at the same time.
- Its buff, Undefeated Mantra, gives the group +10.5% PvE damage and damage tolerance.
- High skill ceiling, but the reward right now is unmatched if you can play it well.
TemplarTankLongsword- The only true main tank. Holds threat better than any other class.
- Has tools to share incoming damage with allies, making your whole group more survivable.
- PvE damage received a +30% increase.
- Low median CP compared to damage classes, but its value is in holding a raid together.
- Any hard dungeon or boss with an enrage timer will go smoother with a Templar in front.
ClericHealerMace- The only dedicated healer in the game.
- Its buff, Light of Protection, gives the group +10.5% PvE damage and damage tolerance, matching Chanter’s.
- Lowest damage output of all eight classes, but also the fastest dungeon invite speed.
- A skilled Cleric with modest gear gets picked over overgeared DPS players in most group searches.
- If your goal is never struggling to find a group, this is the safest pick in AION 2.

A Tier PvE Classes

ClassRoleWeaponReasons
RangerDamageBow- Best damage uptime of any class thanks to full mobility.
- Never needs to chase the target,
- One of the easiest classes to play, making it a strong choice for new players who still want endgame potential.
SorcererDamageSpellbook- Dominant in long fights where it can hold position and freely cast.
- Hellfire is one of the strongest abilities in the game.
- Loses significant damage when mechanics force constant repositioning.
- Best class for high-ping players who still want serious damage.
- Squishier than melee tanks and cannot afford many positioning mistakes in harder content.
GladiatorTank/DamageGreatsword- Performing better than most people expected for a melee class above.
- Brings strong AoE damage alongside real durability, making it flexible across most PvE situations.
- Doubles as a secondary tank option on farm content your group already knows well.
- Solid beginner pick that stays relevant even in endgame group content.
AssassinDamageDagger- Has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game,
- Widely expected to receive a buff in an upcoming patch, making it a potential long-term investment pick.

B Tier PvE Classes

ClassRoleWeaponReasons
SpiritmasterDamageOrb- Deals sustained DoT damage through an orb-summoned spirit, meaning much of its output runs passively.
- Good class for high-ping players since the summon deals damage automatically without constant weaving.
- Consistent in theory but highly dependent on correctly managing the elemental rotation and timing debuffs.
- An average Spiritmaster falls well behind other DPS classes.

AION 2 PvP Tier List

PvP is a different story because raw damage isn't everything when you're fighting other players. Assassin and Gladiator lead the solo PvP rankings, with Assassin relying on stealth and burst damage while Gladiator wins through durability and sustained pressure. Classes like Spiritmaster, Templar, and Ranger also have strong matchups, depending on your playstyle, connection, and ability to control fights.

S Tier PvP Classes

ClassRoleWeaponReasons
AssassinDamageDagger- Best 1v1 class in the game.
- Controls when fights start through stealth and can delete a target before they react.
- Stealth openers like Ambush and Shadowstrike set up back-attack combos that deal massive burst in seconds.
- Above 100ms ping, combo timing falls apart, and the class drops off significantly (so please check your connection first).
- High ceiling, but equally high risk.
GladiatorTank/DamageGreatsword- Has a strong signal for long-term 1v1 ceiling.
- Wins fights through lifesteal, gap closers, and raw durability rather than burst.
- Very hard to kite once it locks on.
- Ping-forgiving compared to Assassin, making it a safer S-tier pick for players on higher latency.
- Its durability and self-sustain make it one of the most consistent dueling classes in the game.

A Tier PvP Classes

ClassRoleWeaponReasons
SpiritmasterDamageOrb- Fear CC is one of the strongest crowd control effects in the game. It locks opponents out of their rotation entirely.
- Kites melee enemies while DoTs tick down their HP.
- Summon-based damage runs passively, making it surprisingly effective at higher ping levels.
- More of a surprise pick in PvP since most players don’t prepare to fight it, which adds to its strength in open-world encounters.
TemplarTankLongsword- Nearly impossible to burst down in an equal-gear duel.
- Grapple pulls opponents out of formation in siege fights, letting your team finish isolated targets.
- Lacks kill pressure against opponents who choose to disengage and reset.
- More valuable in coordinated group PvP than pure solo dueling, but still a reliable A-tier performer in 1v1.
RangerDamageBow- Safe range makes it hard to pressure. Your opponents have to commit hard to close the gap.
- Strong kiting tools punish players who don’t respect positioning and try to dive carelessly.
- Not a burst class in PvP. It wins over time through consistent pressure rather than single big hits.
- Falls off against coordinated dive setups, but excels against lone opponents who can’t pin you down.

B Tier PvP Classes

ClassRoleWeaponReasons
SorcererDamageSpellbook- Hits very hard from range and is significantly more forgiving of high ping than Assassin.
- Any experienced melee player will immediately prioritize closing the distance and stopping free casts.
- Requires constant position awareness.
- Still a solid option if your connection isn’t ideal and you want serious damage without tight weaving.
ChanterHealer/DamageStaff- Flexible and never useless, but rarely the specialist you want in a straight duel.
- Splits attention between dealing damage, applying buffs, and covering emergency heals simultaneously.
- Pure damage classes will nearly always outperform it in 1v1.
- In premade group PvP, it earns its place, providing sustained support while still contributing damage.

C Tier PvP Classes

ClassRoleWeaponReasons
TemplarHealerMace- Nearly unkillable in a 1v1 through sheer sustain, but also struggles to actually kill anything.
- Smart opponents either ignore it or focus it down first before it turns the fight through healing pressure.
- Jumps dramatically in value in large Abyss sieges where cleansing and sustained healing decide outcomes.
- Don’t let the C-tier placement in solo PvP fool you, because in organized group content this class is essential.

Will the AION 2 Classes Tier List Shift

Almost certainly. The game hasn’t even been out for two weeks, and Chanter is already doing way too much damage for a hybrid support class. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next big patch nerfs its damage pretty hard. Assassin is kinda the opposite right now. Its burst damage feels too low, so it could definitely use a buff.

For now, pick whatever you’ll enjoy grinding for hundreds of hours. Build quality, gear level, and actually knowing your class will always matter more in the future.
