Ship Models are one of six collectible categories you need for full manor decoration in the Art Collection. You'll find them listed under Codex > Database > Art Collection: Ship Models, and once collected, they go on display in the Fleet Planning room back at Great Inagua Manor.

There are 20 Ship Models total, and they work differently from your other collectibles. You're not picking these up off the ground or diving for them. Instead, you earn most of them by defeating specific ship types out on the open water, with the rest tied to story missions and one side questline.

Identify Ship Types at Sea

Before you go hunting, pull out your Spyglass whenever you spot a ship on the horizon. This lets you check what class it is before engaging, which saves you from wasting time boarding the wrong type.

You'll also notice each ship type comes in both a Spanish and English version, and you need to sink or board one of each to unlock its model.

Farm the Regional Ship Types

Easy regions sit in the north, near Dry Tortuga and Gibara, and that's where you'll run into Cutters, Schooners, and Brigs. Once you push south toward Chinchorro and Serannilla, the difficulty ramps up, and that's your spot for Frigates and Man o' Wars.

My tip here is don't rush south too early. The hard difficulty ships hit back way harder, and if your Jackdaw isn't upgraded yet, you'll waste a lot of cannonballs for nothing. Grind the northern waters first, upgrade your ship's hull and broadside cannons, then head down.

Defeat the Legendary Ships and the Side Quest

Four of your models, El Impoluto, HMS Prince, La Dama Negra, and Brothers in Arms, only drop after you beat their matching Legendary Ship fights. These are proper boss battles at sea, so go in prepared with a fully upgraded Jackdaw.

Everything is Permitted Quest

The last one, HMS Ipswich, is easy to miss because it's buried in a side questline called "A World Without Gold." This unlocks in Great Inagua after Sequence 11, Mission 03: Everything Is Permitted. It runs across 8 quests:

Getting all 20 Ship Models isn't hard, but you just need to plan properly.
