What Do the Various Icons and Symbols Mean on Amazon Echo Show’s Screen

Amazon Echo Show is a cute little device. But the tiny icons on it can be baffling at times. if you have also wondered what a certain icon means on the Echo Show screen, this is the right page for you.

Home Screen Icons

  1. Down arrow at top: Slide down from this arrow to open the Echo Show’s menu where you will see shortcuts for Settings, Brightness, Do Not Disturb mode, etc.
  2. Crescent icon: This icon means that Do Not Disturb mode (DND) is active on your Echo Show.
  3. Circle with a line through it: This icon indicates that the microphone is muted. You will also see a red line at the bottom of the screen. To unmute, tap on the Microphone button at the top of the device. It’s right next to the volume buttons.
  4. Icons at the top-right corner: These are the widget icons. Tap on any icon to open the associated app. The last icon i.e., the rectangle and square box with a plus sign lets you access the widget gallery. To remove any widget, long press on the icon and select Remove.
  5. Finger icon: It means the Tap to Alexa feature is enabled. This feature allows you to interact with Alexa features using the touch screen. For instance, you can listen to news, set alarms, view shopping lists, to-do lists, etc. To remove this icon, go to Settings > Accessibility and disable Tap to Alexa.
  6. Person icon: This icon means that your drop-in contact is online.

Icons That Show While Playing Music

  1. Two overlapping rectangles with a dot and circle: This icon lets you manage the audio output. Tap on it to change the device through which the audio should play.
  2. Previous, Play/Pause, and Next: these are the usual icons that let you go to the previous track, play/pause music, and play the next track.
  3. Two Crossed Arrows: Tap this to enable shuffle for now playing list.
  4. Two arrows in a circle: This icon represents repeat mode.
  5. Up/Down arrow: Tap this icon to show or hide the Music for You section.

Amazon Silk Browser Icons

  1. 9 Square Icons at top-left corner: Tap this icon to view your bookmarks.
  2. Bookmark: Tap this icon to add or remove the current webpage from your bookmarks. If the icon is highlighted, that means the webpage is bookmarked.
  3. TV: Use this icon to enable desktop mode for websites.
