All Gamemodes in Anime Expeditions

Anime Expeditions offers several Gamemodes with unique in-game mechanics and features. While Story Mode is where every player starts, you'll eventually unlock more challenging content like Expeditions, Raids, Challenges, and Tournaments. Each mode has its own objectives and rewards. In this guide, we will go over every Gamemode currently available in Roblox's Anime Expeditions and explain what each one offers.

List of All Gamemodes in Anime Expeditions

You can play multiple Gamemodes in Anime Expeditions to progress. Some unlock later on in your journey when you reach the required levels. Here is the list:

Story Mode

Story Mode is the main progression mode in Anime Expeditions. It consists of multiple worlds divided into Acts, where you defend against waves of enemies and bosses. Completing Story stages rewards you with Gems, Gold, player XP, evolution materials, and unlocks new areas.

Each stage also has optional Star objectives. Completing all three Stars grants additional rewards and increases your area completion percentage. Story Mode is the fastest way to level up during the early game and is required to unlock several other Gamemodes.

Hard Mode

After clearing a Story stage on Normal difficulty, you can replay it on Hard Mode. Hard Mode offers an entirely separate set of first-clear rewards. It is one of the best ways to farm Gems early in the game. It is also required for several Achievements.

Infinite Challenge

Story Mode also includes an Infinite Challenge where enemies continue spawning until your defenses are overwhelmed. This mode is designed to test your strongest team and lets you push for higher wave records. You will receive rewards after completing every fifth wave in Infinite Challenge. So, you must complete at least five waves to get the minimum rewards.

Mastery Stages

Once you complete every Act in a Story area, you can unlock its Mastery Stage. These stages have a chance to reward exclusive Unit Equipment for specific characters. For example, you can get the Technique Amplifier Equipment for Salmon Sorcerer from the Mastery Stage of School Grounds.

Expeditions

Expeditions unlock once your account reaches Level 20. Unlike the other Gamemodes, Expeditions revolve around building and upgrading your own Expedition Center, which serves as your long-term progression hub.

Your Expedition Center contains several upgradeable structures:

Expeditions play differently from Story Mode. Instead of defending fixed paths, you escort a payload through multiple nodes while choosing different routes and modifiers. As your run progresses, enemies become stronger, but the rewards also improve significantly.

Raid Mode

Raid Mode unlocks at Level 25 and serves as the experience's endgame content. Raids feature stronger enemies, multiple Acts, and exclusive bosses that are much more difficult than those found in Story Mode.

You will earn Raid Tokens for completing Raids, which you can spend in the Raid Shop to purchase Items like Sprites, Trait Crystals, Equipment Rerolls, Equipment Locks, Stat Reroll, and Stat Lock.

Raids are designed for cooperative play, although experienced players may be able to complete easier Raids alone. Besides defeating powerful bosses, Raids are one of the few places where you can obtain exclusive Items that cannot be earned elsewhere.

Challenges

Challenges are special stages with unique objectives and increased difficulty. They are an excellent source of player XP and additional rewards while helping you prepare for the harder Gamemodes. Since Challenge stages are generally shorter than Story stages, they're also useful for completing daily and weekly quests.

Anime Expeditions currently features multiple Challenge types that focus on different rewards. One of the Regular Challenges refreshes every 30 minutes. There is also a limit on how many Regular Challenges you can repeat. Apart from the Regular Challenges, the Daily Challenge resets every day, while the Weekly Challenges reset every week.

Tournaments

Tournaments are competitive Gamemodes where players compete to survive the most waves and earn the highest rankings. The game currently features several tournament formats, including Solo, Duo, and Global Tournaments. Tournaments have a weekly reset system that resets the stages, leaderboard standings, and exclusive rewards.

Unlike PvP, players compete through leaderboard rankings rather than fighting each other directly. Performing well in this mode rewards Crowns, exclusive cosmetics, and leaderboard recognition. Crowns can be spent in the Tournament Shop to purchase Unit Indicator Colors.

Tournament Rewards

AFK Mode

AFK Mode allows you to earn passive rewards while you're away from the game. It's a simple way to collect additional resources without completing stages manually. Although AFK rewards aren't as valuable as Raid or Expeditions rewards, they provide a steady source of progression materials over time.

If the Fastest Clear Time is assumed to be 5 minutes, the rewards you will receive are:

Tower

The Tower is a new endless Gamemode in Anime Expeditions where you progress through an unlimited number of floors with random Elemental resistances. You can play with Traits enabled or enter Traitless Mode for an additional challenge.

Completing Floor 50 rewards you with the exclusive Cubert Unit. The Gamemode resets with every major update, so make sure to claim your rewards before the reset.

Tower Rewards

Portal Gamemode

The Portal Gamemode is a new addition in Anime Expeditions where players can enter different Portals and defeat waves of enemies to earn exclusive rewards. In this Gamemode, specific Elements and Archetypes receive stat boosts, so make sure you have a diverse team of Units.

To participate, you must purchase Portals from the Summer Shop for 1,000 Gems each. There are five Portal tiers, with higher tiers offering significantly better reward pools. You can also augment your Portals to boost your drop rates, and clearing higher-tier Portals gives you a chance to obtain specific Secret Units.

Which Gamemodes Should You Play in Anime Expeditions?

Each Gamemode serves a different purpose depending on where you are in the game. If you're a beginner, I recommend focusing on clearing Story Mode first. Once you reach Level 20, start farming Expeditions for upgrade materials. Start upgrading your Units to play Raid Mode once you have enough upgrade materials.

After reaching Level 25, begin tackling Raid Mode to obtain some of the best rewards in the game. Bear in mind that Raid Mode is extremely challenging. I would recommend teaming up with fellow Roblox players to tackle Raid Mode.

Challenges, Tournaments, and AFK Mode can be played alongside your regular progression to maximize your rewards.
