Fortnite Wrixel Skin Has Over 1 Million Looks – Here’s How It Works

Fortnite has given us a lot of interesting skins over the years, but something different is coming with Chapter 7 Season 4 Override. If you have ever wished you had more control over how your character actually looks in the lobby, this one is going to catch your attention. Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Override is bringing a brand new kind of skin to the game, and it's unlike anything you've customized before. What Is the Wrixel Skin in Fortnite?

Epic says the Wrixel skin packs over 1,000,000 possible style combinations, making it one of the most flexible cosmetics the game has ever offered. As advertised by Epic Games, with Wrixel, you get to mix and match colors, faces, outfits, and accessories to build a look that's basically your own. 

During the reveal, Epic showed off a bunch of preset looks built using the Wrixel system. Some of the styles are based on Peely, Cuddle Team Leader, and Jonesy, but that's just on the surface. 

Other showcased combos pulled inspiration from Ziggy, Ruby, Luxe, Helsie, Lynx, Haze, Skull Trooper, Drift, Meowscles, Hope, Aura, Aerial Assault Trooper, and Fishstick. Basically, if you've ever wanted a mashup skin, this is your chance to create one yourself.

Where to Get Wrixel Skin in Fortnite?

Wrixel is one of eight skins included in the Override Battle Pass. The rest of the lineup features Sonic, Geno, Mali, Bastian, K1TTYW1NS, Phantom, and Grace Crowne. That's a pretty stacked mix of crossover characters and original Fortnite designs, so there should be something for almost every type of player.

Compared to the other skins in the pass, Wrixel stands out simply because of how much control you have over it. A skin like Sonic or Geno gives you a set look with maybe a style variant or two. Wrixel flips that completely and turns customization into the main selling point.

Wrixel Skin Release Date in Fortnite

Wrixel drops when Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Override goes live. The season launches on Thursday, August 20th, 2026 (check out our countdown timer to see how many days you have left until the update drops). A confirmed server downtime window has not been announced yet, but Epic typically schedules a maintenance period before a new season goes live, so expect some downtime before you can jump in.

Keep an eye on the official Fortnite social channels for the exact downtime window closer to launch.
