The Skeleton Key doesn't drop from enemies, floor loot, or regular chests. You have to dig for it.

Head to the graveyard inside Nightmare Neighborhood and look for the stone tombs. Pull out your Pickaxe and dig at the ground inside these crypts. Underneath, you'll find buried chests, and that's where the Skeleton Key spawns.

There are three tombs in the area, but only two of them have buried chests. Once you pick it up, equip it. The Skeleton Key actually points you toward the secret room entrance, which saves real time when you're trying to navigate the mansion fast without dying.

Secret Basement Room Location in Fortnite

Once you've got a key, leave the graveyard, head northeast of Nightmare Neighborhood, and go inside the large mansion. If you go towards the left side of the mansion (as pictured below), you can just use your Pickaxe to destroy the wall and head straight to the Dining Room. That's where the hidden room is.

Then, use your pickaxe again to destroy the Dining Room Floor and then drop down. At the bottom, three doors are lined up waiting for you. This is where your Skeleton Key gets spent. One key opens exactly one door. But if you grabbed both keys from the graveyard, you can open two of the three doors in the same run, which is a great advantage over players who only found one.

The loot is actually randomized every match. There's no permanently correct door. But overall, here is the list of items inside the doors:

  • Small Shield Potions
  • Weapons and Ammo
  • Regular Chests
  • Rare Chests

These chests can drop Exotic or Mythic weapons like Rebecca's Gun or even Freddy's Nightmare.
