If you thought Rockstar would settle for social media posts and a few billboards to promote their upcoming game that everyone's been waiting for, think again. The gaming studio just made one of the boldest real-world and real-estate moves I've seen for any game launch in recent memory. They are bringing GTA 6 into the spotlight and Miami right at the center of it.
Rockstar Drops Nearly $1 Million on a Sign for GTA 6 in Miami
On September 22nd, a crew installed a massive "Welcome to Vice City" sign on top of the Kaseya Center in downtown Miami. Big, pink letters now sit firmly on the roof of an NBA arena. A helicopter physically lifted the letters into position while workers secured them below.

The price tag? Nearly $1 million. Miami-Dade County is expected to collect $975,000 from Rockstar as part of a formal marketing agreement.
That sounds like a lot of money for a single sign. But when you see the images, it's actually visible from planes flying into Miami International Airport. Every flight coming into MIA will get a bird's-eye view of the GTA 6 promotion.

The Timeline Behind GTA 6 Kaseya Center Sign
So Kaseya Center is home to the Miami Heat, and their first regular-season home game lands on October 21st, 2026. By then, GTA 6 will be under a month away from launch (check the countdown timer if you want to see exactly how many days are left until the game drops). It's hard to imagine that broadcast won't cut to an aerial shot of that sign at some point during the game.
There is also October 15th, which is the installation deadline written into the actual agreement, and it happens to fall on a Thursday. Rockstar has historically used Thursdays to drop GTA 6 news and trailers. Whether that's a coincidence or a setup for another reveal is anyone's guess, but I wouldn't ignore it.
The road to get here wasn't simple either for Rockstar. Not everyone in Miami agreed to this. There were some pretty heated debates about whether a city should back a game built around crime, carjacking, and shooting law enforcement.
Miami-Dade law enforcement pushed back. The Miami Sheriff declined promotional opportunities tied to the game. Miami Beach said no to certain ideas too. But the city of Miami moved forward anyway. Commissioners voted to allow oversized promotional banners, with the revenue helping fund a trail in Overtown.
I am sure this sign is just the opening move. Rockstar still hasn't gone full throttle on trailers or TV spots, and GTA 6 launches November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. With the Heat's home opener on October 21 and October 15 sitting there quietly on the calendar, the next few weeks feel like they're setting up for something bigger. Watch for what falls next.
